Played my first armor-only character, and I'm disgusted by it.

Even if they fix it its gonna be like that glacial hammer buff... So yeah don't get hyped about mark saying they will fix it.

IGN : Sir_Big
I really cannot overstate how much reading about this pisses me off, especially after trying to make a pure armor build work so many times just to give up in frustration. I mean how can a company that creates a defensive system not know about something like this after all the complaints regarding armor that have poured out from the player base over time? To me it sort of reinforces the idea that GGG does not understand their own code, or they purposely decide not to fix certain parts of the game. Makes me wonder what else is broken that no one knows about; like drop rates and RNG.

You're welcome, but there's no "i" in my name. Just Shppy. It's derived from an acronym of an IGN i used to use, 'Sexual Harassment Panda' (south park reference), which people often shortened to SHP. Eventually I just changed it to Shppy.

Although I've also joked saying my parents were sailors with a mortal hatred of vowels.

I think that it is unknown on our part exactly how long this bug has been outstanding. Mark said the root cause had to do with an implementation of a Juggernaut stat. So your guess is as good as mine as to when that might have occurred? When was the last time any changes were made to Juggernauts that might impact the armor calculation?

edit: I looked through the patch notes. But, only the 2.x.x main release notes. The first good reference to armour (or Juggernaut which I didn't find) that I found was Path of Exile 2.2.0: Ascendancy Patch Notes So perhaps this bug was introduced in March with the Ascendancy release? Caution: I did not search all of the patch notes only the 2.x.x patch notes. Of course, that is when Juggernauts were introduced so that would be the oldest possible release, i.e., it couldn't be older but it could be more recent.

It is also possible it was introduced with the shield that has "ranged defense" as a stat. I have no idea when that was. Does it really matter?

Important point: It was found.
Also important point: Mark is working on fixing it as soon as he learned of it. Very efficient in my opinion!

It doesn't really matter to me, I was just curious. I was a manager of a software development group for many years so I feel like I need to try to get some new tests added by the test team or perhaps some new unit tests but one of those things where it is really out of our control. :-)

This sounds lovely...

Any idea if we are going to get a fix soon?

Shppy, for some reason Ive always read your name as 'Shippy' lol, I think its because human brain sometimes puts vowels in between consonants automatically with known words.

To be fair, that *is* how I pronounce it when I say it aloud (cuz it's kinda weird to try and pronounce it as though there are no vowels). It's just not quite how it's written.
That "Bug" explains many RIPS for my level 94 armor cyloner...
For this reason, i had to put a Frostwall gem into Cast When Damage Taken. And hell it progs vs some Range guys...

Makes me very sad... so many times lost -10% vs projectiles.. so many hours for nothing
