Yeah, i just stopped making new armor characters this league after noticing the bug, I couldn't bring myself to bother knowing how compromised it was. I tried continuing the character I noticed the bug with as an armor/ev hybrid instead (using Spectrums plus evasion gear), but even that I got fed up with, as all but one of my deaths on the character came from physical projectiles I should have survived (the other was twinned Piety). It sucks, it's kinda put a few builds I wanted to make on hold, really killed the second half or so of the league for me
There is more to this bug than has been stated, try run an "monsters do 90% extra damage as fire" or other element map, get hit by projectile, drop dead.
Not using a high chest armor piece (using lightning coil with a 1500 def rare shield) , not using juggernaut, not using grand spectrum, i am on a templar with 55% phys reduction no charges or pots and overcapped res with 6k hp and will die to quillrats or booby cannons instantly if they have extra elemental damage.

Im playing a lvl 88 almost 89 Dual AW Totem Berserker with 4800 life and 38% PDR (physical damage reduction) and I can run rare and corrupted maps without any issues all the way up to T15 without even trying as long as there is no reflect mods. Even with reflect I can still do the maps, just my totems instantly wreck themselves in 1 hit because they do so much damage. I have ran several dual or triple damage mods. I have never been 1 shot by anything other than Detonate Dead. In actuality most of peoples deaths that are apparently 1 shots are actually 2 shots. If you have your defensive mechanics set up correctly it should be impossible to out right die by anything other than a volatile or detonate dead or a boss attack that is meant to 1 shot you. A ton of people get cursed on top of these map mods that increase damage. I always carry a curse removal flask and I spam the crap out of it, even if the mobs dont end up actually using a curse to begin with. It has saved me from an unimaginable amount of deaths.

For those saying they have X% physical damage reduction, keep in mind the value listed in your character sheet is always going to be BS if you have any armor at all. The reason for that is armor's mitigation value varies depending on how large the incoming hit is. A quick example of that: Let's say you have 10,000 armor. That will mitigate a hit of 1,000 by 50%, bringing it down to 500. However, if we increase that hit to 2,000, that 10k armor will only mitigate 33.33% of it, meaning you take a hit of 1333 damage after armor. Instead of the double damage one would hope for, it's actually 2.66 times as much in this example.

The character sheet value for physical damage reduction is only against a so-called "average" value for the level of the particular area you're in.

If you're going to mention your physical damage reduction value on your sheet, what you should instead do is say what your armor value is, whether you have the Soul of Steel node (since that's 4% phys reduction just like Endurance charges), and how many Endurance charges you have, if any.

Also remember to mention Fortify since that's effectively 25% -less- damage taken since it comes after resistances and armor calcs. Fortify's calcs are done alongside Abyssus, shock, and similar.

I have looked at your profile:
You got Vinktar but I dont see any anti-shock.
You seem to be using an armour shield and not a def shield.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
Not everything is physical damage, its mixed within elemental and maybe chaos.
More than 50% should be okay, and add life, lot of it. Use fortify if you can too with caped resis.

I have up to 80% phys reduction, max resis, fortify and 6500 hp. I still get 1 shooted, or maybe 2, but quick hits.
The game is broken. Or some builds are.

IMO dont get more than 20% PDR from armor alone. If you want more than that use fortify to get to 40% and use endurance charges to get higher than that.

Fortify & armour combine multiplicatively not additively. And armour comes first.

It is essentially the same. If you have 20% PDR you reduce physical damage by 20%. Then that dmg number is reduced by another 20%. Its basically the same.

I only use vinktar to kill bosses, which are not my issue.
My post being about armor not working properly obviously i am using an armor shield.
