The key being started out as, obviously it evolved to classes, which was a feature of the "next" expansion which was\is ascendancy, its a fundamental difference.


So the "idea" of having more points to invest into your character was indeed something that was slated for awakening, but ascendancy classes and therefore their respective points were always an ascendancy feature.


Anyone is welcome to watch the video in its entirety and not just nit pick out statements so they are out of context, at least thats what I would recommend everyone doing, if you want to actually be informed on the "situation"


But arguing over semantics here really, the fact of the matter is the expansion "ascendancy" is about putting your character thru trials and tribulations (aka the lab) to prove your worthy of "ascending" to become a more powerful character. The game's lore has been adjusted for this, the game has been adjusted for this, all that is left is for some players to accept the reality of the situation and stop suggesting ideas that boil down to "gibe free points".

There are many people who are better informed about GGG's development process than I am, so feel free to correct me. But what I took away from that clip is that ascendancy points (later to develop into ascendancy classes) were originally going to be class-specific awards when Act IV was introduced in the Awakening. The Labyrinth had a completely separate origin as stand alone content with some rewards at the end, inspired by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deathtrap_Dungeon and other AARPGs ;). Both the ascendancy classes and the labyrinth got pushed back over time to extend and improve their content until the Ascendancy expansion.

At some point in this process (maybe quite early on) GGG decided to combine the two by making ascendancy points a reward for the labyrinth. Chris Wilson is remarkably silent in that interview on when, how, or why they made that fateful decision. I guess he knows a hot potato when he sees one.

Yes, and if you read a bit further it says, "Most importantly, trolls don't actually believe the controversial views they claim." So someone that has read this thread and then asserts we're asking for free ascendancy points can't be saying this because they believe it, but because they are trolling.

How do you know what he believes? He makes what, IMO, are fair points and you're the one throwing names around. So I ask who the real troll is?

It feels to me the same way, any way you remove the points from the laby would essentially be giving them away for free.

Unfortunately people are too stupid, selfish and eager to mock anything. The goal of the thread has remained exactly the same since the first day. The original was raw and unrefined, with time it just got better visually, the essence is unchanged. To this day i still cant get it how a change like that would affect anyone in a negative way. If removing AP from lab causes anyone to lose interest in the lab, they didnt have any to begin with.

Please give us something that we can admit and say : fuck they are right, how dare we request such a thing. Cause as it is now we (the haters) are forced to suffer the thing you (the lovers) theoritically would suffer in case a change happened. Seriously a solid asnwer is all i ask.

I gave what I feel to be is a solid answer to your question. Either you didn't care or you just ignored it.

I'll also gladly accept with open arms any change that doesn't remove the ascendancy points from the laby, to cater to people like you that don't like the laby.

Suffer for something you have to do like 3-4 times per character.
