In another subject, there are the lists of problems that influence poverty in US (it can be other factors, this is what I read more often):

-Automatization.
-Regulatory capture by big corporations reducing competitiveness and worker rights.
-Illegal immigration.
-Poor safety net compared to other developed countries.
-Inneficient education systems compared to other developed countries (it still shocks me people have to take expensive loans for college there, I'm not sure about trade schools) so people have a harder time retraining for other jobs.

I wonder if illegal inmigration is as big of a factor as the rest, if deportation would be useful to solve it (Operation Wetback is a precedent of this, it failed in the long run, it caused some deaths, it was smaller overall) or there are better ways to solve it.

The studies I have read say that it's a net loss mostly for uneducated, low skill people, and a win for the rest, so I wonder if it wouldn't be more constructive to just help the losers rather than using force without any guarantee of results. Or tackling the other problems (Trump doesn't seem to be doing that in a meaningful way). For example, if automation makes low skill work less valuable, would be reasonable to stop automatization to preserve wages or it would be better to help workers to change jobs to something more useful? Try to apply the same logic to immigration.

Remember that you cannot judge right or wrong by law alone. Given how dysfunctional immigration process is in US (multiyear, bullshit gating process), I would be...doubtful. Also, there is the ethics of desplacing people that have live in some place for a while, even if their integration was poor (wouldn't be better to incentivize integration?).

Once it was unlawful to come to US if you were, from, let's say, China or Italy, so it's not the first nor the last time a group is considered a bad fit to come to the country.

I think Trump makes empty promises given the lack of good precedents for the methods proposed (let's ignore the stupid wall), although I wouldn't deny there are some problems with illegal immigration, I just have different ideas of how to tackle it. Humanity vs. country and all.

Illegal immigration is a red herring. Its a bunch of politicians blaming a group which cant defend themselves for the lack of good jobs, for corroding our culture, and for terrorism. And so many of the brainless incompetent voters actually believe this message of hate. They grab their pitchforks, light their torches, and join the angry mob.

It is all bullshit. Immigrants dont occupy a single good job. Our 'culture' is not in any way shape or form worthy of being preserved. And not a single illegal alien has commited a single act of terror.

But its all worse than bullshit. You see, all this hate is like a seed. A seed of bigotry. It promotes the idea that people of 'other' nationalities and religions are dangerous threats. It becomes us versus the 'others'. This is the seed of war and persecution. And it is evil. It is an evil to divide a world which could and should be united.

We are stronger mutually cooperating as intelligent beings than fighting amongst ourselves.

The best way to eliminate your enemies, is not to make them in the first place.

My ancestors came to the United States as immigrants from Eastern Europe. They were processed at Ellis Island. My uncle still has the notebooks great grandfather used to learn English (uncle was using them in reverse, to learn Magyar). Those ancestors entered the country lawfully, with the determined intent to learn the language and to assimilate into the culture, not to create a colony of the old country, but to become Americans.

I highly doubt everyone during that era came in legally. But that's not the point. Your ancestors came to America to better their lives. "Illegal immigration," shouldn't exist. The wall he is building is more insulting to our ancestors than a pregnant woman trying to cross a border so her child can have a better future. I wouldn't place spaniards or Anglo Saxons on a moral pedestal. After all human nature is to pillage and plunder.

The media is to blame for the misconstrued suppose ideologies of trump. The media seems to "..." Many of his arguments. For the uneducated average American they will interpret everything literally. The most amazing part of all of this; the majority of stock-share holders, insurance holders and pharmaceutical companies are owned by middle eastern princes. Ironically in a democratic country...
