Donald Trump

I care as much about the South China seas as I do about the Russians taking Crimea. In both cases, the situations escalated due to US involvement. And the USA certainly had a hand in destabilizing Ukraine. It was also the USA who helped negotiate the removal of nuclear arms from Ukraine, which I think would have provided an adequate deterrent to keep the Russians from taking Crimea.

Whether Taiwan is independent and Democratic makes no difference to me. It's not our problem.

My take on nuclear proliferation treaties in general is that it isn't going to keep nutjobs from getting their hands on nuclear weapons, but it will just ensure the "haves" will continue to be able to bully the "have nots". The Chinese wouldn't fuck with a nuclear armed Taiwan. Hey! We might be a small island, but we got enough nukes to turn several of your major cities into deathclaw evolution preserves. Then suddenly, the consequences for taking over an island nation don't really look all that great.

Give everyone nuclear weapons, eh? I'm not convinced that's a good idea... :)

Anyway, happy & productive new year everyone!

Let's say you really love bacon. If I was offering you pieces of perfectly cooked bacon for $1000 per strip, I doubt you'd buy. I don't think my claims of "but bacon is good!" would convince you to stop walking away.

In much the same way, making international moves to protect righteous nations from bullies is "good," but the price tag is important. The military-industrial complex has siphoned TRILLIONS of taxpayer dollars using my bacon trick - and usually delivers shitty results. We need to start demanding COST-EFFECTIVE foreign policy.

I think a near-complete boycott is a good start. I want to see those fuckers shrivel from starvation until they're compelled to see the light.

I really hope so. A Le Pen victory in France would be vital, but I don't see it happening tbh.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Kind of like how no one saw Brexit and Trump happening? As long as the vote isn't tampered with, I have have no worries, and France uses paper ballots.

Brexit, followed by Trump, then Le Pen would be a triple dose of salt for the Jenniks and Antnees out there. I wish Germany would get rid of that [Removed by Support] Merkel, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.

Not happening, like the first time all the other parties will call to vote against and people will follow.

This is really hard to put in numbers.

Going back to my example with Taiwan. The US has big muscles and mere flexing of these muscles, has kept Taiwan free. Now, of course there's expense associated with big muscles, but there's also returns - all the trade US & Taiwan have been able to do, precisely because Taiwan was free and able to develop into a free market democracy. This relation made both countries richer & more prosperous.

Or, in an even bigger picture: The US has been a dominating force since WW2 and directly helped to stop the spread of Communism. Ofc. being "World Police" is expensive and in the short term you'd save a ton of money by isolating yourselves and not giving a fuck. But in the long term this might result in Communsm taking over the world and eventually also destroying the US.

(assuming that you also think living in a capitalist free-market democracy, is better than living in an commie police state, singing songs to comrade Stalin with a growling stomach ;)
