Find me a way to interpret the word of the prophets/god not making them say anything else than what those words mean... If you change those words/interpret them to fit your better morality, why the fuck you believe in those books in the first place? just become a theist instead if you really believe in a monotheist god, no need to call yourself Muslim or christian then. You can twist and change the word of "god" to fit your better side, but "god" is perfect and I am not really getting how you need to interpret his words when they are that clear. " Hold up! I have to stop you here. The Abrahamic religions do this. You find a lot fewer descriptions of who you can rape, orders to carry out genocide, slavery apologia, and so on when you get to religions like Buddhism. Not all religions are equal, and saying things like "they all do this" is unfair to Jains, Buddhists, and so on. It's like when Republicans defend the evil acts their leaders carry out by falsely saying "all politicians do this." No, they don't. Some groups are uniquely awful. Islam as it's practiced today in some parts of the world, namely theocracies, is truly in a bad place. It's reminiscent of Christianity during the Dark Ages. It's only reasonable to recognize this and do what we can to fight against and fix that problem. The problem comes when a tremendous number of right wingers start painting all Muslims or even all brown people in general with that same brush. Moderate American Muslims are, for all practical purposes, the same as moderate American Christians. They believe some pretty wacky shit, but they mainly just pay lip service to a fanciful belief system that was passed down from their parents. We have extremist Christians here who do some pretty monstrous things. In addition to those who kill abortion doctors, the Phelps gang, and so on, those Trump supporters who planned to blow up Somali refugees right after the election were radical Christians, but you'll never find a Trumper saying we need to do something about "the Christian problem." And they're right on this. We don't need to deal with that problem any more than we need to deal with America's non-existent "Muslim problem." I don't think they'll be able to stop their irrational fears related to Muslims or brown people, though. This is a fight liberals will have to keep fighting alone. Now the fight's just going to be much more challenging than if our country hadn't been overtaken by an organization that puts monsters like Steve Bannon in the highest positions of power. The pope, imans, rabbis do it. They have to. Because we are living in 2016. And about 75-90% of every religious group gets this. So, you delivered an argument against all this "fuck muslims" shit: Those, whether they are jews, muslims, christians or jedi, who do NOT interpret the holy books, who don't adapt to modern times, are the problem. And this is (as you said) no muslim-exclusive problem. So what is the point? "Islam is wrong"? Nah. Islam, lived and followed absolute, is wrong. As is every other thing you do in your life, when you do it without reason and brains. And that is why some arguments here, like those from user diabloblablabla, are so terribly wrong. Not all people of one group can be evil. This is against all reason, against all odds. And therefore his statements are rascism, bullshit and dumb. The Sirus fight is a disgrace.

I say: When it follows an ancient book absolutely, it becomes worse, but that is a general problem (with abrahamic religions, if you want^^). Is Islam wrong because of the Quran? No. This book is as good or bad as any other ancient religious book followed by billions. So: Islam is not wrong or bad in general. That's bullshit. And that's what is said here. " I agree with most of what you're saying, but you really need to stop generalizing holy books. The Quran and the Bible are full of all sorts of horrific acts and commandments. Many others, like the I Ching and books on Buddhism, are not. Some of these books are significantly worse than others. A person following every single word of the Bible literally will be one hell of a monster. You really can't say the same about religions that don't have holy books advocating even a single evil act.
