Code of Conduct and Valued Posters
" Right back at you buddy, you are a perfect example of why I stay off reddit. Someone writes something you don't like and you immediately go into personal confrontation mode and start pointing fingers. Anyway, if my posts make people like you move to reddit, I'm glad. You have to be realistic about these things. Logen Ninefingers Last edited by Bars#2689 on Oct 22, 2015, 4:02:13 AM

" the only times i've been to reddit is when it was linked in official forums or from google after i searched something poe related and the official forums failed to provide the info on it. to your edit: i won't go to reddit; i'd rather just quit the game. " Won't happen anyway. Why would redditors who seems to be quite content and happy on reddit come here in the first place? This forum has no features that make it better than reddit and they probably spend a lot of their free time on reddit already. So why log into this forum? Because some guys get a fancy border for their avatar? PoE needs better social features... and more cats!

" but that's the hope anyway and you, saying NO right of the bat solves nothing. obviously some regular/original reddit posters won't move back here but you don't have info or some statistics on how many they are nor do you know the percentage of people that would like to come back if the forums would be cleaned. " And I'd bet my last dollar if the Dev's closed up their personal reddit accounts, abandoned reddit (like they did the official) and moved back to the official (home) that a horde of reddit posters would come flying through the door acting like they'd never abandoned ship. I'd wager the greater portion of reddit followers are mostly there because of the devs and not for a better discussion platform or intellectually enlightening conversation. /upvote Reddit numbers is also info you haven't supplied. If you have it,then share it. The forums have been getting somewhat of a cleansing recently (ongoing) and it's seen significant changes in community attitudes in my opinion.Just "stay the course" and wait for the dust to settle,it's all that can be done. Too much change too quickly isn't recommended on a social level though. |

" This. If devs of a game post information on reddit (sometimes before or instead of posting it on their own forum) the forum suffers and the forum users will react negatively. "Guilty as charged. I still think I'm right though. No fancy avatar border will bring people back here from reddit. Interesting information from the devs about upcoming changes, plans and detailed information about skills and items might. Although they will most likely be crossposted on reddit and severely limit the effect. PoE needs better social features... and more cats! Last edited by Col_Jessep#1925 on Oct 22, 2015, 4:50:29 AM

you're probably right about the devs part. i can't really talk on that since i've been playing only for about a year.
were the devs always first on reddit then on PoE forums with the infos, or they moved over afterwards(after some time, after they saw that they'll get more exposure, publicity, on reddit)?. anyway, someone should school them too. Last edited by kreca73#1653 on Oct 22, 2015, 6:19:22 AM

This "devs on reddit" things seems overblown. Yes, dev responses to reddit threads sometimes contain useful info you can't find elsewhere, and that probably isn't ideal. But it's a factual statement that a substantial majority of dev posts are made here, not on reddit. And I don't think there has been an instance in a long time of a dev posting seriously important information on reddit instead of here (although info sometimes gets crossposted when it's relevant).
That said, I think a lot of people use the subreddit because it's reddit. They know how it works, and it's a much better system for collating important information than these forums are. These forums would need to be completely redesigned in order to replace reddit, and I don't think it's feasible to collate everything when these forums get so much more traffic than the subreddit does. Not to say that these forums couldn't be improved, because they're pretty lacklustre right now.
