That ship has sailed a long time ago but it would have been an option. I actually like community moderated forums better because the mods and admins often have more time and can help out in ways the devs or support staff can't.

Naturally it works better if you don't establish a cut-throat competition in your gaming community where crucial information is obfuscated (vendor recipes), users who have been hacked can be openly ridiculed by other community members in support threads and people who post (probably mostly valid) claims that they have been ripped off during trading get a temp ban. If you do that for 2 or 3 years you get a toxic wasteland of a forum. That really shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody here.

I pity the guys and gals from support who have to moderate here, I really do.

But let's face it: you are taking an extreme post of mine... extremely out there... no way on earth is my expectation that I should be allowed to say what I posted there on these forums. I said what I had to say... and I still strongly feel that way.

Saying, for example: "Well - that's pretty stupid" - is completely different to what I wrote in that thread you linked.

But I guess that's good because we have 2 extremes: GGG forums, and the forums you linked. There should be a nice balance in between, and a gentle little barb shouldn't net you 2 weeks.

I couldn't have linked anything on the official forums because those posts were removed or edited but I can imagine they were just as nasty.

And there is a difference between a "gentle little barb" and flat out bashing someone. I'm not just talking about the thread I linked but also in the troll gavel thread here on these forums. The hate in that thread is so thick you could cut it with a Bino's if they don't nerf it. :P

I'm not saying that there isn't/wasn't some issues with moderation because Charans last probation seemed pretty unwarranted to me. Not just singling him out, there are many other examples but this one just stood out.

As for you claiming to be probated over something as simple as calling something stupid, I'd have to see proof of that one. I'll admit wholeheartedly that there have been some major inconsistencies with moderation but not to that point I don't believe. Your tone in said posts leaves little to the imagination.

If I'm wrong, I owe you an apology. But this is how I see it...

I'm fairly sure after moderating here she can take care of herself.

Me too, that's why I'm fooling around :) I wrote too many serious posts lately and I haven't been probated in weeks. I'm starting to itch.

p.s. also, someone nominated me for VP so I'm taking care to protect myself. Not that there's any chance of it happening, but better safe than sorry.
