I still think map drops are fine - boost drops and good players can do 79++ all day long

So you think it is a good thing that the game forces you to do things that are boring?

Hmm. An interesting point of view.
boring is a subjective term that describes your feeling about something. something you might find boring, I might not find boring, and vice versa.

obvious troll is obvious.
I enjoy low level grinding on my 95 toon and you're calling me a troll
? I enjoy not being cared for and NOT get a bunch of amazing loot in 2.5 years of playing, and you're calling me a troll ?

buddy, a lot of things people consider fun, I consider boring. and vice versa. and I never hide behind the majority if my opinion tends to coincide.

but go ahead, call me a troll because my opinions differ from yours, sure

not to go on a tangent here and no offense, but this kind of thinking is why we have carebear ass games nowadays.

What are carebear ass games?
You really don't want to know.

The horror. The horror.

Edit: guy above me described them accurately. Heed this warning: avoid exposure, or risk your very soul.
thanks for your concern, but I think it's ok- pretty sure most people here have immunity to them, by actively using them.

So you can accept different people find things fun and not, boring and not, subjective.

You say you enjoy low level grinding on a lvl 95, but when other people state issues with this, it is because they see themselves as too good for it, too proud, etc, etc.

Casually casual.

I think that there's an issue with the way GGG thinks currency sinks work.
A good currency sink is one that makes sure that people do not hoard their currency like dragons. This means that, when a player has too much currency, that player is likely to willingly empty his currency in that sink rather than keep it for its market value.

The map system is a currency upkeep rather than a currency sink. It's some kind of tax you need to pay in order to continue grinding. These are terrible currency sinks. On of the worst kinds. Not only will it never make a player stop hoarding little by little, it most of all works against itself.
If it's too high, players will find it an excruciating pain that diverts them from the grinding, and they are likely to search other ways to get their loot and XP. If it's too low, it won't do its job of keeping currency in check. And since players have different grinding efficiencies, there is no middle ground.

sure, I can accept you not having fun. I respect anyones opinion.

but the game is designed to be a grind. the game design stands on many things that are set in stone, some of which you cannot accept and always complain about. like economy, for example.

I dont go to forums about games that arent niche grinding games and complain that Im not having fun in their game because I want a grind. I understand the games are designed that way. Why would I try to change the game to my taste ?

on other hand, people come in on poe forums and complain about grinding too long and game being 'unrewarding'. in a game about fucking GRINDING and farming.

its similar how if theres one gay bar in the town, and bunch of straight people come there and say, we are not having fun in your bar, lets make it like in the straight bars. to which bartender logically asks, you have dozens of straight bars in the town, why dont you go to any of them. to which the straight crowd answers, bu bu we like the drinks and decor here

like Ive said before, everyone is selfish. Im selfish and you're selfish about how we want the game to be. I want a punishing, grinding experience that can frustrate me, or one that I can brainlessly grind. There are different things for me to enjoy/be frustrated about in poe. You want openly accessible content, self-found catering, etc. You can find what you want in dozens of other carebear ass games out there. I cannot.

and I dont like when people use their ego as the reason to deprive me of the game I came to enjoy and that marketed itself a certain way from the start. and I dont like the game changing in the 'majority' direction.

Agreement so far.

...and it (the agreement) is gone.

Upkeep-based sinks are the most realistic and reliable sinks available. While I can concede that careful balancing is indeed tricky business with some negative results if it's not spot-on, expecting players to sink currency in other ways, on the scale required for proper sinking, is a pipe dream.

So the game in 1.3 was not a grind? The game was not true to its game design?

Also, that means you did not enjoy the game in 1.3?

What gives you the impression I complain about grinding?

Where did that come from? LMAO.

I don't enjoy grinding low level mundane content.

There is a BIG difference.

you farm chaos recipes to chaos spam if you do solo self found. if your religion allows you to trade currencies, then it is trivially easy to get all currency for maps.

Please come onto Tempest and buy chisels for me.

I'll give you the chaos and you can show me how trivial it is. I've been fucking spamming trade for far too long.

And as a proud leveller of many 82 characters (check my challenges) I'm still pissing chisels and vaals and frags.
