edit. I think you are right. The initial text was "modifier" ?

I guess I forgot about that wording.

Read my comment again : They changed the text on my item. the text and stats on COE remained exactly the same. nothing, no texts no stats changed on the existing items.

While, people wake up to find a new acuity in their stash with new text and stats on it.

The text on my item has changed and that's a first.

No? Prior to 1.2 CoE said "Modifiers to Spell Damage also apply to Attacks", and affected More/Less Spell Damage. After 1.2, that mod's text was changed to "Increases and Reductions to Spell Damage also apply to Attacks", and More/Less Spell Damage is no longer converted into More/Less Attack Damage like it was before 1.2.

Does this makes sense?

Legacy:
Item mods have variables, BoR stores 15% block chance on themselves.

x = 15%

<insert code to block blah blah using x>

Non-Legacy:
Item modes like acuity don't really need to store real numbers on themselves.

<insert code where 1.0 leech gets nerfed to 0.6>

Voila!

Spoiler
protip:there never was any 1.0 ratio that got changed to 0.6
Salty tears from rich Acuity users. OP item should be nerfed no legacy.
No I don't own an Acuity. I don't care about the nerf.

That said, the gloves should have a legacy version.

The only thing changed about the gloves is the leech's effectiveness. That is a numerical value of 100% effectiveness lowered to 60% effectiveness.

No changes to the mechanics (from a player point of view).

Critical hits leeches; only at 60% effectiveness. Simple. Clear.

BUT because of the lowered number, they had to REWRITE a new line of code that forces the Devs to implement a second mechanic for the gloves. So for that reason, the changes must be retroactive.

The confusing part:

- Logically, a value decreased from 100% to 60% doesn't need to be retroactive based on simple understanding.

- On actual development, the involvement of a new mechanic (more coding, more pain in the ass) require changes to the existing item.

My question: Why can't the new line of code only affect the new Acuity drops? (Legacy)

My guess: Because it would require two set of codes to represent the same gloves, one that has the new mechanic and the other that doesn't. (correct me)

1. No need to worry how it's coded, they are the pros. They don't necessary want to create a legacy version and opted for retroactive change like crown of eyes.

2. pre 1.3 old acuity cost 180-220ex. Legacy means rise in pricing which is what every owner wants. It could be to control the price from spiraling wildly.

With this Acuity nerf they destroyed all my efforts in the game since 1 year.

This is how they reward players for spending time in their game.

GGG has no respect for his players.

Was looking for supporter pack when i see this line

when will ppl understand that there never was an effectiveness value before the nerf, so they couldnt just nerf the nonexisting value.

THUS NO LEGACY FFS
