St. ELMO's Fire (Dual Totem, Dual Curse, EE, Fire Trap Templar) NERFED :( RIP build

at what point is better to use "classic" shield then spirit shield ? or is there any difference later on (higher difficulties, end-game)?
-i have nice kite shield but i still use spirit shield with total of +43spell power (not best i know)-life regen-mana regen-and ES.
- probably it really depends :) most of the time im not hit by mobs but that extra armor from shield might be handy ?

I tried this build out with slight variations. i got rid of EE because the white mob killing speed was too bad and took out dual curses as well. In exchange, i got eldrich batttery which solved all my mana problems.

i was at level 67 before i derped thinking i was a god trying to kill 4 rares and a champion pack in a game with 5 people.

this build is UNGODLY levels of strong. 3 fire traps, 1 bear trap, 3 zombies, and dual totems. Your dps output is INSANE.

When sticking to a shield I would just stick with the spirit shields. Look for +spell dmg, +life, +es, + resists if u need them. If you hurting for armor/evasion/hp and u find a nice strength one go for it. Remember safety first! Or if your going to fight a major hurting boss like Vaal, go w/ a high armor +hp shield or if piety i would go w/ high evasion + life shield.

depends on your confidence. I did get hit hard as hell from a desynched boss in lunaris lvl 2. Took away 2400 life + es in that 1 hit. I am lucky to be alive.

That 2nd curse (conductivity takes away the negative EE effect and then some.

I was routinely soloing max players docks in a different area then partners. All mobs melted before me. I recommend the EE + dual curses.

got eldrich batttery which solved all my mana problems.
I don't really have mana problems. I just drink pots.

So you like hybrids? I can't figure out a good flask set and what mods I want for them yet.

Also I was v bored and found the problem with the OP.

Hey very nice build! Have a couple of questions:
1) any way to make bear traps stronger than fire traps + ee ? Or is fire traps the better option generally.
2) Is arc a musthave? Im using spark ,and im wondering whether the build would still be viable for this?

What gems were you using at low level and what do you suggest? can you give a brief run down like 1-20 use xxx gems 21-40 etc etc?

I have to admit I'm also intrigued by this build and would like to start collecting gear/gems for the leveling process? How do you recommend proceeding? What skills did you rely on early and such?

All the way up to minion Explode grabbing life and the shield block nodes
No EE yet though!
Then down to Ancestral Bond
then down to Elemental Adaption
Marauder resist + Life nodes
Now get EE
Then Dual curses last.
AFTer dual curses I filled in the spare life nodes like the +8% nodes and went for the Marauder shield block which helps alot.

Don't forget those +30 dex nodes to use fire trap.
Bear trap requires more dex than fire trap to beware if you want ot try that.
Congrats on a pretty good 2 hour race, Pete! Suddenly noticed your name on the first page. In the end you beat Kripp by 600 exp. What kinda templar were you playing?

Anyway, thanks for this cool idea for a build. I am giving it my own twist though, partly because I am playing default league and also because I finally (on my 4th char now) feel comfortable enough with Skilldrassil to impose my own ideas on it. However, the basics are the same and I am having a blast with it.

much appreciated. by frost nova does he mean ice nova? cuz i cant find a frost nova gem
