Love this thread! There are some really great suggestions in here that have helped me decide to basically do a full respec and try a serious MS build.
I've been doing a TON of testing with MS and I believe the best option for maximizing not only DPS but also life leech is...
1) Faster Attacks
2) Multistrike
3) Concentrated Effect
4) Blood Magic
5) Life Leech (if you're brave and farming trash you can swap for WED)
6) Molten Strike
Why Concentrated effect instead of WED?
I believe concentrated effect will make Point Blank more effective by making the projectiles stay closer to the Maximum 50% more damage range (balls are 5-20 range...PB has to be within 10 units to be 50% more damage). Conc Effect with -30% area radius should bring the ball range to a maximum range of 14 instead of 20..correct me if I'm wrong. This allows more projectiles to hit the same target (or a cluster of targets), and leech more life because the balls are doing more damage, while maximizing the full potential of PB.
Using WED does have a very similar damage output because it's also effecting the initial hit. However I believe in a long boss fight PB + Conc effect is safer and does a little more damage.

Drop Faster Attacks for WED then. It's not even really comparable how much better WED is.
A belt with 30% or more weapon elemental damage should be better than any doryani belt right? Doryani is only 20-30% fire damage while a belt can have almost 40%
As far as using Doryani's Catalyst goes, would you need a max level CwDT for the level 20 supported Ele Prolif to work? I'm assuming so, just wanted to clarify :)
actually no. I'm pretty sure that because elemental prolif is a support gem its level is not taken into consideration for CWDT. So you can have a level 1 CWDT and the prolif would work.
Of course you need the actual 'skill' to be connected to CWDT. That Skill gem is what CWDT is looking at and it can't be an attack it must be a spell. The proliferation from Doryani's Catalyst only works on whatever is IN those gem slots.
Little Note on CWDT:
Also, it will trigger whatever spells you have in the order they are linked. CWDT - Enduring cry - Immortal call means enduring cry is cast then immortal call. If you reverse the two on links it actually would cast immortal call then enduring cry.

I believe you would miss out on the 2% leech (1% from belt + 1% from mace) on fire dmg, that leech is enough to sustain from what I have seen in earlier posts.

Oh really? I wasn't aware that support gems didn't have the same requirements as non supports as far as CwDT was concerned :) Currently I have: I figured only Detonate Dead and Freezing Pulse were actually being cast :) Thank you for your input!

Correct, but the 1% fire leech is actually surprisingly effective. Way better than a measly 10% increase damage.
