It makes PERFECT sense the largest nodes for chaos are by CI. We have NO regen.
Further, all resistance should not include chaos. The damn resists should have never been added in the first place. Make it a priority on gear. Grab the node/s you can. |

Instead of -20% and -60% they could make it -10% and -30%. I think it's too much, especially in a pack of poison mobs you can quickly get dropped.

My Mara might be default and not HC, but I have plans to roll a HC character as well, and frankly in merciless, I tend to play it like HC and try to avoid deaths and losing xp.
My Current Stats: HP: 3,464 Armor: 6,737 (With Grace, IR, Determination) Total Physical Reduction 77% (with 4 endurance charges) Life Regen: 158.8 base, character sheet peaks around 850 with Leech I'm able to swap rings around to max fire/lightning in key areas. My Chaos Resist is at -32% My experience thus far in A3 Merciless, at level 61 I can faceroll through City of Sarn, taking on a high number of mobs in that zone solo, 10-20, via leech + end charges I move into the Slums, can easily deal with the leapers, carrion queen/spawn. If I see a pack of more than 3 white snakes however, I need to run and separate and kite around to avoid too much spike damage. I had the same experience in A2 Merciless River Crossing/Dark Forest. Take on 20 of the other mobs, fear for my life from 3+ white snakes. I've only been able to find 2 piece of useable gear with any chaos resist up until now. In order to feel comfortable with chaos mobs, I feel I'd easily need another 80% chaos resist, which isn't accessible near the mara tree easily, or via gear right now. I feel the disparity between chaos and other sources of damage, especially for the Mara tree is too great. We either need some chaos nodes on our sides of the tree, or have it built into all resists, or endurance charges, the damage feels too much for a melee character right now. | |
Mara already has built in chaos resistance. Hp nodes and regen.
Also. You're not sacrificing your build by getting chaos resistance. That's part of your build. You have a weak build without it if you choose to. |

Making chaos resistable adds viability to armour and evasion builds, should shift things away from the old "life stacking is required" mentality. Rating builds will be good with moderate life, if you can get resists across the board.
Might be okay. Thing I don't like about this is it takes away from the uniqueness of chaos damage. Changes things just a bit too much. We'll see how it turns out, though. --
