POE: The Best of Games and the Worst of Games
I've always thought that Regals are too rare for the utility they provide. Unlike Alchemy orbs, gambling a Regal on an item pre-merciless, given the terrible odds and extreme rarity of these orbs, is never done. At least, I haven't. Or, maybe I have been very unlucky in the Regal finding department. Unsure about that. Speaking from a single player point of view, is it intended that most orbs should never be used until far later in the game? It seems as though one needs to use at least some of these to advance that far. Good discussion here. Thank you for adding your thoughts also, Chris. |

" While I can't find the full post. I am against gearchecks I prefer clever AI's. I think that level 78 content should be doable by level 78 characters! In CB you could do level 69 maps with level 69 characters but after 0.11.0 it's more likely a level 78 character will instantly die from Ancestral Bond by Dominus first form. Gearchecks come from MMORPGs to earn money from the ingameshop or delay gameplay for subscriptions. PoE gains nothing from Gearchecks. You are pissing players off that's all. I think that reaching level 78 content shouldn't require you to be level 90+. I also think that once you finished the game the character should somehow feel finished but could be improved. That's a thing Diablo 2 did really well. It also shouldn't take those huge amounts of time to level up a character. And I don't thing that level 80-100 should be the eternal grinding. 90-100 would be ok but 20 levels and you experience in lower level zones. But I agree with you that PoE doesn't feel like an ARPG it feels pretty much like a bad MMORPG and that's the reason why I am not playing endgame content anymore since 2nd week of OB. FYI I detest MMORPG. Last edited by Hilbert#4232 on Dec 8, 2013, 8:41:36 PM

It seems like your critique of this game is from a self-found perspective. Just wanted to clear this up. The endgame is borderline unplayable without trading. Not saying I disagree with you, but crafting and loot is much more exciting when you trade. Finding something that is good but not necessarily for your character can still be exciting because you can be happy when you sell it for a lot. And then you can buy the thing that you really need. That being said, sometimes I wish the game just had gold because I absolutely hate needing chaos an exalts to buy gear and trading up with alchs and fusings and regals and regrets etc. is super boring and frustrating. Everyone wants a deal.

" This is exactly the problem. This game is not made for self-found and soloplay, you can play it like that just fine, but when people put these moronic arbitrary restrictions on themselves, like not trading, they then can't go and blame the game for their own bullshit. It's like whining about CS because it doesn't allow you to drive tanks, that is not what the game is about or marketed as. |

The problem with that analogy though is if I want a trading game, I will go back to D3. I hate the AH, but at least it is quick and easy to use. I never minded the boss runs, or cow levels in Diablo, but with no sets, no "unique" uniques, meh. Originally Posted by battlebug on 12.02.2011:

I only read the ops post so I am sure I miss as a lot of info, but just seeing his highest character being 56 I really can't share his opinion. On that level you do not even have to craf the gear, what you find is enough to get you to maps where you def be rewarded when you grind them enough. I am lvl 84 now and so fast found 6 ex,loads oif good unique and a eternal. I get enough currency from maps with her pure drops or turning alterations into fusings.
Sorry but on that level you should not complain and if you already can't deal with it I think the whole game genre is not for you. Your level is reached in a day, endgame starts at maps. The game has his flaws but yours were based on what 10x low level chars. Put the effort in and farm maps consistently than you will see that you just have scratched the surface |

" Well what about a player like myself.. I don't find trading ideal at all, but as its a part of the game I'll do it from time to time.. What I should NOT ha e to do however is trade out of necessity.. Right now I'm playing a lvl 66 shadow who is wearing two pieces of gear that was self found self made.. And coincidently they are the two items that are the worst of the lot.. Go figure.. Every other piece of gear was purchased.. This honestly sucks.. Itd really be nice just once in this game to build up a charater and not rely on anyone else to make it great.. |
