TSC: Giving away the chance to make a unique and a custom Avatar! *EVENT* *Winners Announced*

I've been toying with this idea for a while, a weapon that takes both weapon swap slots and transforms into something more powerful once certain conditions are met. You cannot press X and swap between forms.

Standard:

Transformed:

The basic idea is to acquire your maximum amount of frenzy charges as quickly as possible to transform the weapon into something much more powerful. The weapon will stay transformed as long as you can keep your max frenzy charges, with a built-in 2 second grace period should a frenzy charge end or you use one to cancel the Flicker Strike cooldown.

I'm sure the numbers need tweaking so it wouldn't be completely OP, but I think this would enable a rather challenging and fun build.
Ring of the Vampire's embrace:

Ring

+10% to all life drain effects

+5% attack speed

+10 Dexterity

-25% Fire resist

Extra gore effects when worn.

This ring, worn by an ancient necromancer fascinated by the power of blood magic, still carries a lingering fragment of its former master's power and madness. The curse of the ring takes effect immediately once worn, infecting the unlucky victim with a constant thirst for blood and death while at the same time inflicting them with the same paralyzing fear of fire that plagued the one who created it. Despite these drawbacks adventurers brave or foolhardy enough to use the cursed object find themselves strengthened by the dark power that still dwells within.

something cool and another way of gain some charges.

the discharge effect is supposed to erupt from the dead target

edit: uploaded new item with 10 - 20% cast discharge to give a bit more of randomness to the charges, anyway is open to changes if needed for balance.

Good weapon for 2h hp build. Have a great synergy with AOE skills like Sweep.

"I've seen him around", whispered the beggar in your ear while you clumsy tried to hand over some orbs on the old rotten wooden table where you were sitting.

It seemed like a bad idea now, inviting an old beggar for a drink inside the tavern. The dirty, sly looking beggar seemed closer to standing up and running around the table laughing maniacally with each and every sip he took of the beer you bought for him. "He's been scurrying around all around Wraeclast, always asking for old and un-used gems, all kinds. Dunno what he's been doing with them, maybe he's trying to build his own castle, hahahaha!" The old beggar seemed to choke on both his drink and raspy laugh as he finished his sentence. I'd better get to business fast before he gets too drunk or asks for more orbs.

"Hmm, yes, I do remember seeing him carrying around something that looked like a small door. Maybe that's the door he is planning on using for his castle, hahaha, hahahahaha!!." The old beggar banged his flask on the table and continued to laugh (and cough) so loud that some heads in the tavern were turning towards you, creating unwanted attention.

"I... I need to know where this person is", you nervously managed to whisper somehow.
The beggar slowly looked up to you while his smile slowly whittled away and strangely continued to look up until you realized he was not looking at you anymore, but at someone that stood behind you. Something hard started pushing into your back and you could clearly feel 5 or 6 distinct pointy objects prying into your back as you slowly turned around.

A big Red flash with Blue hues was the last thing you saw before falling into a dark, empty void...

Door to Nothingness
Ebony Tower Shield
Requires level: 61

80-100% Increased armour
+15% additional block Chance if no sockets
18% to all resistances if no sockets
+75-100 to maximum life
Can have up to 6 sockets
Skill gems in Door to Nothingness are disabled
Provides skill: Voidblast

Voidblast
Spell
Fire, Cold, Lightning, AOE
mana cost:10
Chance to crit: 3%

Voidblast destroys 1 random Skillgem + corresponding socket in your Shield when used and deals elemental damage to all monsters within radius, according to the amount and types of gems socketed in that shield.

sample damage numbers:

Spoiler
Green gem: adds 200-1600 Lightning damage
Red gem: adds 600-1100 Fire damage
Blue gem: adds 750- 950 Cold damage

So for example, a 3 socket Door to Nothingness with a Green, Blue and Red gem:

A single Voidblast would deal:
200-1600 Lightning damage, 600-1100 Fire damage, 750- 950 Cold damage
And randomly destroys 1 gem+socket, leaving the Shield with just 2 sockets.

So for example, a 6 socket Door to Nothingness:

With 6 green gems socketed, a single Voidblast would deal:
1200 - 9600 lightning damage

With 6 Blue gems:
3600 - 6600 cold damage

And with 6 Red gems:
4500 - 5700 fire damage

Reason to make this special unique:

It is simply too easy to create a new Vendor recipe and create a gem-sink this way. I wanted to have a more creative way to add a gem sink into the game, and maybe even create a way for players to actually wanting to trade for them (the common ones, that is), so hopefully catching 2 flies in one go. This will surely invite creative players to come up with some awesome builds, and for sure will force them to hassle their way into bartering for unused skill gems.
I also wanted an item that is not a simply “slap it on and go” item, but something that you really needed to think about a bit. How many orbs are you willing to use to get more than 1 sockets and right colors, knowing that they’ll go away eventually, together with the gems you carefully put into them.
Running around with a used item without any “charges” is of course no fun, so hopefully the item will be still somewhat useful when it has no sockets to use.

Optional changes would be to add a Cool down to the skill if it proves too powerful, or to remove the "destroy socket" clause if the skill is too weak.
Damage numbers and radius of the skill can be tweaked of course to whatever GGG wishes.

Sorry, not very good with Php/Http to create a picture. If anyone want to go ahead and do it for me, great!

Don't Touch my Sweep please GGG!

The Balance Of Life.
One handed sword.

The idea that went behind creating such an item was simply to give melee characters a really, Really powerful weapon that will 'get the job done'. But at the same time, it is not overpowered enough to make a player invincible since an in-built counter weight balances the power of the weapon (no pun intended...or was it intended?).

The core of this weapon is to grant the user a massive life leech, that works in tandem with Resolute Technique thereby giving the user a constant stream of regen via attacks.
The boost to movespeed and attack speed along with the chance to chill (slow) down opponents, and prevent an easy escape by simple means of running away, grants the user an opportunity to catch up with kiting opponents fast and to kill them faster. As kiting is one of the best tactics to be using in PvP, this provides the melee player (the "kitie") a good way to counter "kiters" without having to resort to teleportation skills or flicker strike. And this weapon works with movespeed enhancing skills and items to give a real boost to field mobility.

That was the good news, now the bad news.

When boosted with other life leech items and passive and pure physical damage, this weapon could be a beast in the right hands (if not most hands). But where is the fun in simply equipping a -=[I WIN]=- item? A gameplay without a challenge gets boring pretty fast, or thats in my humble opinion. So to counter the raw benefits that this weapon brings to the table, it has some serious drawbacks that only seek to liven up the user's gameplay.
This weapon bestows the bearer with (level 20) Blood Rage Buff, Cannot Use Flicker Strike Debuff AND puts a constant (level 1) Puncture Debuff on the user that cannot be cleared. What this does is, constantly ticks the players health down whenever the weapon is equipped and kills the player if he/she idles around too long doing nothing. And if that wasnt worse enough, the Puncture debuff damages the player whenever he/she moves around even a little bit. So infact the weapon can kill the player who does nothing, kill the player who moves around doing something...what is the only way it doesnt "KILL" the player you may ask? The answer lies in its name, only by fighting others (and thereby killing others and creating a Balance of Life) can you survive when donning this cursed blade.

The massive life leech offsets the Blood Rage life loss. And ofcourse when killing opponents under the Blood Rage buff, you can gain Frenzy charges which further augment your attack speed and allows the user to leech more life by the second. And the extra damage on low life, seeks to give the user an edge in a do-or-die battle or to the player who has lost quite a bit of life trying to reach his opponent and needs a boosted heal real quick.

And as powerful as the weapon might be (even with its counter balance) it does have a hard counter: to freeze the blade's user and kill him ASAP before he pops an anti-freeze flask or catches you in melee range with teleportation magics. And ofcourse you can kite the user and run away to safety...that is, if you can run away.

And the reason to prevent the usage of Flicker Strike is...obvious. But teleport skills are not off the list since thats what POE is all about right? Skill crafting a character with an unique item set that creates a diversity that no other game can provide.

(Or.....you can just weapon swap to a not-so-damaging-to-the-squatter item and then swap to the Balance when you get in melee range of your opponent, but its easier said than done when facing an opponent who really knows his game!)

Heres my 3:

Matenga a Taka

aka Death and Taxes (must be equipped as a pair)

I tried to make an item that would be useful and fun for midlevel melee character.

in Maori (if my source is accurate)

Matenga = (noun) death, time of death, disaster, defeat, slaughter, killing.

Taka = (loan) (noun) tax, duty.

The two reaver axes comprise an "Ephemeral Item". They can only be equipped as a pair. The pair can only be equipped one time. When they are unequipped, they vanish from the player's inventory. Weapon swap does not remove the item's "Death and Taxes" functions. (Death=killing character 1% of the time when hit by critical hit, Taxes= random item deletion each time character returns to town (whether by waypoint, portal or walking there). The "taxes" function actually deletes the item as soon as the character leaves town (so there is no cheating taxes by quitting the game and restarting). Characters who start the game and spend the time in town chatting, trading or vendoring are thus not penalized.

Level 48 reqs does not include level of implicit skill mods of Blood Rage, and
Ice Shot. The skill level of implicit skills would hopefully be random, preferably weighted heavily in the lvl 5-10 range.

The only variable on the items is the damage range:

Matenga = 110-129% Local Physical Dmg
Taka = 70-89% dmg

Interesting idea. Aside from my own stupid puns and obscure references, I greatly prefer ideas that change an existing mechanic or introduce a new one. Ones that address a hole in balance are great, but you figure those holes will be plugged eventually anyway.
Why do the heathen rage?
Sorry if I missed it somewhere within the thread, but how are the 2nd and 3rd runners up (for avatar creation) selected?

From what I gather, a total of 12 uniques will be hand-picked. Of those 12, one will be (randomly) selected as the winner. Where do 2nd and 3rd place fit in?
