Community Question: Why don't you play public parties?

^my issue as well

I tried to get passed my issues with the loot system by letting nice people in global join me but I just loveeeee to get raped by mobs because they feel like my loot in their inventory is more important.

Once had the most sweetest person I had ever spoken to in a group with me. An exaulted dropped in my name and oh look not so sweet anymore!

Oh and I just love mf-obsessed assholes. I'm dps, and I'm not going to stop attacking because you have more mf than I do. I'm not going to sit behind your minions and your totems and just stand there. Lol infact I get kicked 90% of the time because I kill to fast and "don't have enough mf"

I really hope theres a change in the system. I feel like shared loot is always some dramatic issue somewhere.

First reason is FFA loot. I play for fun, not to get in fights with random people. And if I did, I would PVP rather than engage in arguments about drops.

Apart from that, I like to be able to take a break when necessary. I usually group with RL friends or solo, which eliminates both problems.

I really like public parties. Yes, the looting system is abit frantic. Something that could surely be tweaked by making the loot timers longer. I like the current system more than instanced loot.

There are a few drawbacks which many people have mentioned. What bothers me the most is when your party is 3 players or more, it's very had to tell whats going on. It's very annoying when you try to mouse over a boss you're fighting, and all you see are the other players health bars.

Another thing which is an issue in boss fights is the amount of loot. If your party has 4-6 people, the boss explodes in a shower of items. Usually you can't click on all of your items before their timers start running out.

Overall, I like the way the party system is set up. It's very easy to use, and so far(4 times through normal) I haven't met a single jerk.
This has likely already been stated by others. But I don't play public games because I like getting all of my drops. I'm not fond of cutt-throat looting. I will only play with others if I know them and know they aren't pixel thieves.
FFA loot. The timers are just too short, Im usually still in combat by the time the timer runs out. If the timer was 30 secs I would play pub games because that gives the team time to fight then pick up the spoils. The current system just interrupts the flow of combat with people rushing to pick up their items.
Trusting random people in hardcore is like asking to be brutally molested
absolutely love public parties, see new builds, different stuff. I normally outline the loot rules in title if im making it or ask the group when i join.

This has been recommended 100 times before but im certain it will happen. Why is there not an option when creating a public party to select loot method, allocated/ffa/timer length(with input seconds). This solves all the loot issues form the off and would encourage more partying? As it is, in party the rare drops/xp gain are sooooooooooooooooo much better i see little point soloing anymore.

ffa is only reason i wont party in public games. the sooner GGG realizes this the better. so they really want a single player mmo? oh well as usual this thread will be ignored and ffa will still be in game
I'm still too new to PoE to give a response to parties in this game, but I wanted to add my reasons in general for most MMO's. There was a game I used to play, I used to enjoy partying with a few "friends" as well as strangers, it was a good way to make new friends.

Years later I returned to that game and it was taken over by immature people (not just kids). Most parties were now one guy power leveling everyone else, getting mad if anyone tried to do anything, since they figured they were the big shot, or 5 people would just be autofollowing someone else and every once in awhile act like they were still behind the key board. As soon as I would announce I needed to be AFK for a few minutes, I would be kicked or called a leach, when all I was doing was grabbing a quick drink or a potty break.

Also should the party be going well and start getting more social and chatty, once it would be revealed I was in fact a female, all of a sudden the chat would turn inappropriate. I'm not saying every party is that way but it happened more then enough that I choose to leave that game. I've been called "old" by 15 year olds in games for being an adult, asked what I look like, and witnessed very age inappropriate chat in parties where younger children were playing.

As bad as all that sounds, the biggest reason I no longer party, is because I myself and just too friendly and social. Yeah I'm the person you can trust to hold your super rare drop, do I want to be, no. I just can't help it. Even in real life I am the social butterfly. And being too friendly or trusting is no way to enjoy a game. I had to quit MMO's for a bit because I got to the point were I spent more time chatting then I did playing. Now I just party with my BF, and usually if he adds any one else, I'll will come up with some excuse like I have to cook dinner for him, and log out. I can't even bring myself to tell my own BF how much I hate parties with strangers, lol.

FFA loot makes people not wanna party, with non rl friends.
Honestly that makes POE a singleplayergame with chat option.
Not my cup off tea, so i left POE again.

I play MMO games with loot for each person, and we do share what we dont need.
So because off this stupid FFA, most party people left POE allready.

Its a shame cause POE are a great game.
