Community Question: Why don't you play public parties?

But if this game decides that you must party up to defeat the game..., I already gotten my money's worth and will look to another game to fill my time.

I'm not sure where you got this idea from but as far as I am aware this has never been an intention for the game so no need to worry about that.
Because of the current loot system that promotes fighting over loot instead of normal, fun, unfrustrated and joyful monster killing and playing.
Give option(s) for this and I'm sure that partying would go sky-high.
i cant concentrate on the fighting while in a group, even if its a decent party that doesn't ninja stuff,,
is it mine? there is no timer, or did i miss it? perhaps its mine, but then again perhaps not, fuck it, let it stay there.
i don't like how it puts the focus on the loot and not on the combat...

there are always those guys that stop fighting halfway through and go after the loot, i save his ass and he takes my loot and says that its my fault for not picking my stuff up earlier....

i like the exile theme of this game, and i know that FFA fits this theme better.
But it just doesn't fit the game mechanics in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more.

I'd highly welcome a loot option: everybody gets his own loot but there is no iiq bonus for playing in a group.

I play solo because I prefer to. I like to be able to take breaks at any time, I enjoy overcoming challenges by myself (even self-imposed ones), and futzing around with non-standard builds and seeing where they go. Even in MMO's I tend to solo for the same reasons :)

I agree with this. I also dont feel like I get anything out of competing with other players for drops.

Besides, with global chat, it's not like I need to party with someone in order to have their company.
IGN: Iolar
Because I don't have a beta key
1. FFA loot. I tend to wait until everything is dead to loot so that usually mean in a public party I never get any good loot because its the last thing I pay attention too.( I learned this playing D2 with my friends but unlike a lot of public parties they are willing to share what they pick up)) I am a very aggressive player when it comes to fighting not loot whoring, so it usually takes my full concentration not to die constantly. Although this wont be the main reason you will never see me in a public game its a reason why it will rarely happen.

2. I have plenty of friends that will be playing when OB hits so public parties wont be needed.
I am not personally opposed to it but..

Firstly as others have said.. The loot system. I fight first and loot second. this means while I am doing what i should be, other people may just be taking stuff. I play hardcore and looting during fights is rarely acceptable.

Secondly there just never are any. I do check sometimes as playing with others is more fun, sometimes I even start a public party. No one ever joins though.

Lastly sometimes i just like to go at my own pace. Keeping up or slowing Down for people is okay but sometimes it becomes annoying.

Cause im still really noob, learning things ,and dont want to get to invested with upcoming wipes, and changes to the game still yet to come.

:P
GGG - Why you no?
For the sake of Fellshrine grinding being a little less monotonous, I've opened up my Merciless fellshrine to the public lately. It's been really fascinating, seeing who comes and goes. Lots of builds I didn't expect to see, and, perhaps more importantly, a side of the community that doesn't constitute the global chat. People who seem surprised to see a moderator in-game.

...This amuses me. :)

One of them did ask me why I don't loot much (I don't). I said it's because I really don't need much stuff and am just doing it for fun. This is partially true. The rest of the truth is I'm not very quick at these things, and would hate to see something nice allocated to 'Charan' suddenly become public and then consequentially become someone else's property.

Conversely, I saw a chisel drop, allocated to someone else, they were busy fighting, the timer ran out, and it took a lot of willpower for me not to take it.

They ran off without touching it, so I figured that I might as well nab it. I found this person later, during the same instance, dropped the chisel...

and watched someone else take it.

Heh.

In short, I'm surprised by how amusing public/party play is when you don't feel like the game owes you anything. I'll be doing this a lot from now on.
https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild.
