Community Question: Why don't you play public parties?

I do play in public parties, but only when I don't care about loot too much, because FFA loot makes public parties suck.

Honestly that makes POE a singleplayergame with chat option.
Not my cup off tea, so i left POE again.

I play MMO games with loot for each person, and we do share what we dont need.
So because off this stupid FFA, most party people left POE allready.

Its a shame cause POE are a great game.

non rl, fuck that
rl, 90% of the time fuck that

:D

I'm in the same boat. If I feel like partying I will only do it if I am in the mindset to just enjoy lvling and seeing other players.

I dont look for public parties, for some reasons...

-I'm neither a leader (in games terms) nor a follower... If you play in a group, you have to find a pace that works for all, leading into the fact that (nearly) every member has to sacrifice some of his 'native' playstyle.

-Even on top of this, playing in groups makes the game ... hm - 'closer to the combat' is the only way to describe what I feel. This not only creates more load for the hardware (less good flow/fps in more situations) - the general increased combat (to keep the pace of the group) and the needed continuously high attention to what happens makes it also more stressful to myself as player. Its fun to play groups, its intense too - but I cant stand this over a longer time without healthiness troubles...

Other thing is, that its still an issue (against fast partymaking) to be able to communicate voicebased with the other party members - and it adds even more hectic to communicate via chat typing - up to risky situations that complete deny it.

I do feel that having more/better options for setting the loot rules in-system would alleviate a lot of the potential stress involved in public parties.

Here's hoping we see something on that front.
Went to play in a public party once.
The music was too loud.
The food wasn't good.
I didn't know more than one person.
There was no Path of Exile to play.
I do play public parties, if im trying to get past a difficult bit that my build isnt handling well for whatever reason; gear or retardation usually.

I dont care about gear for the most part. FFA works for me for the simple reason that it averages out in the end, sometimes i get stuff and others i dont.

I dont care if someone goes afk, as long as they do it in town and say so.

If the pace is too fast or slow, just say so: a quick note saying that life/mana regen is slow. I understand that multiplayer can put these out of balance.

If the group is chatty and playing nicely I offer stuff that looks ok to the others. rarely does someone say "yes, thanks" and I find that this encourages others to offer their picks as well. Give a little, get a little.

Now for the main reason I dont exclusivly play public parties: no ingame voice chat. I really hate typing during an Action game. It slows the pace almost unbearably.

I really believe that most issues are communication related, or at least could be solved by a better communication system.

I just thought of my new main reason for hating multiplayer co-op in this game. LACK OF VOIP/voice.... I played with a friend the other day and it was still fairly unfun because we didn't have voice setup outside the game, as such I think this game needs in-game voice for co-op... all good co-op games are good because you can hear each other.?

You cant share things, if you dont know what your mates may need, they dont see what they "miss" and its stupid to ask about everything, and even more to 'trade' just to offer that stuff to the other(s).

Background: I'm a 'collector', I make use of as many offered options as possible, and therefore also pick a LOT of loot many others dont care about or sometimes not even notice - for R=G=B stuff may be looked more than for just white "trash" with some quality; how many check a low level gem if it has quality? or are looking for linked sockets in midgame?

Loot system, don't really trust anyone I don't know and the loot system gives me a good reason not to party with those I don't know.
