Community Question: Why don't you play public parties?

In short, I'm surprised by how amusing public/party play is when you don't feel like the game owes you anything. I'll be doing this a lot from now on.

Exactly the point, I will party and let other people take drops, or drop things I pick up for them I have stash, not so much on default, but it's just a game full of pixels. I learnt this many years ago playing another game.
One reason and one reason only.

You cannot zoom out far enough in this game for teaming up to be viable, in other action rpg's you can zoom out a bit further, this makes it a lot easier for two human beings to stay near each other. Otherwise each human player crosses the screen to fast and so it's too hard to stay together. UNLESS you're friends who learn to anticipate each other, and use complimentary builds.... but just some random guy? yep.. it's the ZOOM LEVEL. d2/d3 both have more zoom out, makes it more possible to coordinate with random people.

I understand that there are reasons this isn't possible, but until it is, I'll be a solo player. (or possibly teaming up for bosses because in a boss fight you're not traveling anywhere!)
its not enjoyable to play when you cant see anything because of all the spells and summons and all the other things that are on the screen that you dont really need to see.
Its always in the last place you look
The only reason I dont play public parties is because I dont want to deal with FFA loot.

After browsing over all the replies , the general concensus is... people dont like the loot system atm. I myself have to admit, it seems really feeble, that the loot timer has been put in place for everyone to be able to loot their own finds, but than it expires so quickly, that really, what was the point at all?

Its almost as if, the timer just simply lets you get more angry at the loss of your drop. At least in D2, the items disappeared so quickly , you were lucky to even recognize the names of the drops. But in this case , you all to clearly see what was just stolen in front of your eyes.

Anyways , game is awsome , lovin it, but the loot system is kinda wonky. TBH i wouldnt mind no timer at all like old D2, but if there is going to be a timer, why not make it useful.
GGG - Why you no?
guilds will be cool way for grouping which I believe it will reduce the Ninja looting @#$$@ers.

I also wish it was FFA. Also, its not yours til you pick it up.
I don't like the current loot system, as a result the only times I do team play, are when I'm helping people with quests, or doing Ledge runs and just feel like letting others tag along.
Lost in a wonderful world of VGM covers.
I try to look at it from the perspective of game theory: there's few times where opting to party up will emerge as a positive-sum game for all players involved. Change it to a dynamic that has positive-sum rewards and you might see some different attitudes toward it. This is in part the FFA loot system; competition should be against the monsters, not between a unified party. Leave the conflict to PvP.

yeah, pretty much this
it becomes so damn cluttered that i cant click the enemies or even see if there are any there still, so i just usually spam AOE spells until the others stop attacking as well
