You got 2 6l and 3 weapons 250%+ dps and you are still complaining? I have been playing since January and no 6l droped (just 4ex in currency). Some people...
Edit: I just checked the combined playtime for both of my highest lvl chars are 30 days. But i am mostly afk in town so i don't know if that really counts.
Well, I didnt really mean to come off as complaining. Of course I would like more, but I am not going to stop playing or anything stupid. Also, virtually all of that 40 days is spent farming maps constantly. At present I am farming 16 hours a day on a 60k dps flicker strike character, doing over 100 maps a day. I really feel that at that rate of clearing and that level of play the amount of loot I got would frustrate the hell out of a great deal of people.
Im content, I was just trying to add what I had experienced.
In the existing leagues, there is nothing stopping anyone from playing self-found, and we know many of our players do. We also have players that only engage rarely with other players, trading and partying occasionally.
So, as you can play self found in an existing league, I doubt we need to separate out the leagues. The question then is, are there progression problems with self found. I think there are two parts to this:
Can you play through self found? Currently there are issues with this, especially around the 40s. One of the main problems here is the availability of 4-linked items. Gear progression gets hard here, as replacement gear requires both beating existing gear in stats, and in skill support. This isn't usually an issue earlier, as you aren't needing full skill sets, and can skimp on stats and still progress quickly.
If we are going to make changes, it will likely be on the ability to make or the availability of 4 linked items.
The second issue is, what is the player expectation of self-found play. In general the main issue comes when players look to the top of ladders and to streamers to direct what their play experience would be like. This gives players a very distorted view of what they should be able to achieve. In general these players are pushing every advantage they can from trade, long play, group play.
Often, when I get told - "everyone is doing X", and I have a look, there are often only a handful of people doing, its just often these are the most visible. An example of this is 6-link Shavronne's. If I look at over level 90 characters, in all leagues, played in the last month, well under 50 players have Shavronne's Wrappings equipped. And if I look at the stats, if you want to die, wear a Shavronne's.
We will not be making a league to make it possible to replicate the play of these players. 1) We don't think its needed. 2) From past experience, if we make accommodations to make it possible to replicate these players, these players will still beat you. If we made a self found league with competitive advantages but solo play, you'll see the same players on top of those leagues, and we'll get a new set of complaints from people who want to replicate the achievements without the same investment.
I think this response is spot on! If you want to play self found, then play self found. What's so hard about that? Why do you need to let everyone else know that your self found by asking for a separate league? If all you want is to enjoy playing the game at your own pace, don't care about ladders and want to find your own gear, then why do you want your own self found league? It doesn't make sense...
Knightmare: have you read some points?
What you said has been repeated countless times. Read the first posts and the link in them, there are the answers
i like this game. i mean have you seen how powerful is the barbarian

If you'd taken the time to read this thread or the 90+ page thread in Suggestions, you'd know the answer to that.
If your gear is really so good that you can go days on MF without finding anything useful, I'm willing to bet it's damn hard to find an upgrade, too.
There is a major point you are missing, Scrotie.
Synergy
Spoiler
I'd consider my item wealth not only good for a self found player, but good for any player, but as I've already said, this is through time investment. Time and hoarding.
But when it comes to synergy, that's a whole different kettle of fish.
If I'm levelling a character from scratch, with no item pool in my stash, I need not just to find upgrades, but upgrades that work with the gear I already have.
A pair of boots I find can be hands down better than the ones I have, but not usable. If I was to buy a pair of upgrade boots, I would buy a pair that fit the exact needs.
Search; 25 MS, 83 Life, 22 fire, 40 light. = a pair of usable boots, a direct upgrade, cheap.
I could find some boots with 30 MS, 87 Life, 43 fire, 30 light, 45 cold. = I can't use these.
Using them, could mean I now need to cover the loss of light resistance on other gear.
This is one of the main reasons you will see a lot of pro SFL people want a permanent league and one of the reasons why the further we go, the less desirable a new league is. It's also something that traders miss about self-found, it's a long haul, account wealth, account growth, thing.
The self find player starts weak, remains weak compared to his trader counterparts, but slowly, over thousands of hours, years of play, becomes as strong, if not stronger.
It's the exact opposite of today's instant gratification gamer which is actually what makes the usual 'wanting it easy' comments so ridiculous in these threads.
My item pool is huge, it contains some of the best items on the server, but even with those items, I can seldom use more than 2 or 3 of the best items together, on a character I might have created and levelled. Say If I level a melee marauder, I might have a GG item for every slot, but can't use any more than two of those together, I use lesser items with them. However, if I was to buy just 2 items, to the exact stats I want, I could use my GG items in every other slot.
Conversely, I can look at my pool and see if there is a synergy, I recently realised I have the gear to create what is probably, at least, a top 5 CI phys wander in the whole of PoE.
I made a witch, she's 61 now and just getting to use some of the gear, I'll reveal her soon.
But this wouldn't be possible without that 3000 hours of hoarding, it wouldn't be likely doing it the other way (picking a class/spec and then trying to equip it from my pool) and it certainly isn't going to happen on an account that only has a fraction of the time.
It is, however, very possible to build this character, any character, with perfect synergy, via trading, on that young account.
This is probably the best post I have read, between the two main threads, regarding SFL.
