Self-Found (League) [Thread outdated!]

When i started playing POE i did not want to interact with anyone so i always hid global and trade chat. I managed to beat the game on standard with about 140 deaths. I had two swords with 60%increased phys and 7-14 added phys and thought that these must be the best swords in the server.

Then i opened trade chat.

My point is you don't have to get the best gear to beat the game. After many hours of playing i would not be surprised if i could start a new char and beat the game with just blue items.

Of course they won't promote solo play.

Their business model centres around selling shiny microtransactions... of which the main purpose is to show off in front of other players.

If you could enjoy much better drops, without having to get involved with all the douches in the trading scene, then most people would. And then most people wouldn't feel the need to show off their shiny helmets or footprints, so they'd lose money.

Anything about issues with 4 links is just nonsense smoke and mirrors. But I respect their need to make money, although this is why I don't like the free to play model. Even if it's not pay2win (though it is still p2w by proxy, due to 3rd party selling sites), there's always a need to generate cash some other way. In this case, it gets in the way of a pure solo experience.

Certain MTX would be not able to be shown off in town. Skill Effects as example.

Since you asked for information on what obstacles we faced playing self found/so on..
None, none at all until endgame
My first character in standard was a fairly well researched dual totem witch. I had absolutely no trouble clearing the entire game with it, though I did play in groups(of real life friends) up to about level 45 where most of their less researched builds crashed and burnt.

My first character on anarchy was a glass canon shadow ranger.. that also had absolutely no problems till end game solo.

My point being I dont think that the getting to endgame drop rates are a real problem.

That said, at endgame... solo would be a total nightmare. I have 40 odd days played now, 15 of which were done with a low life sporker at 300/100..

My best weapons are a 300 dps phys axe, a 250 sword and a 250 dagger. My best chest item is a 750 es chest. I have also had two 6links drop.

Is that an acceptable return for 40 days of playing? Obviously I have had currency drops and have bought some uniques now, but none of that information was from after I did so.


I really feel that I should have gotten some more impressive stuff after 40 days play time and a self found league with increased drop rates wouldnt be bad imo. That said if I cant have it Ill just keep farming constantly till I DO get something really nice /shrug.

You got 2 6l and 3 weapons 250%+ dps and you are still complaining? I have been playing since January and no 6l droped (just 4ex in currency). Some people...

Edit: I just checked the combined playtime for both of my highest lvl chars are 30 days. But i am mostly afk in town so i don't know if that really counts.

I did put his post into correlation with end-game being hidden
behind a hideous currency-wall according to other players.

Maybe I jumped to conclusions on this, you are right.
However the repetition of the protocol was just that.
