Make gems buyable from NPC VENDORS!

what's about uniques and good rares? they are build enablers as well.

the idea behind you getting forced to find gems and uniques and good gear while playing is to encourage you starting new builds based on the new items.

this works especially well for me.

Think this is not the same. Gems are basic - builds are based on geme.
I overhauled following sentence in the first post
to reflect general self-found players stance in a better way:

"
Based on this points I suggest the introduction of a (Solo?) Short-time Self-found League.
The Self Found League is supposed to have modified droprates to counter the lack of trading. After the end of the league, all characters and items will be transferred to the Void League.

The Self Found League could have modified droprates to ease crafting capabilities. After the end of the league, all characters and items will be transferred to the Void League.

Implying that TheAnuhart's self-found experience in the end-game area is true
and Qarl's information about walls in the mid-level area is right.

I agree however with Fourist's sentiment. If there was a Self-Found League,
GGG would certainly able to balance it either way. With modified drop chances or without.

The parent league Void League is already implemented by GGG at the Descent Races. It is basically a graveyard, denying any access to your characters and former items. With this league being the parent league GGG does not have to care for any aforementioned points.

Meh
The chars can't go to another league like Standard?
Well I'm no one, I just hope GGG explains us the real reasons something like this hasn't been implemented yet, since it seems lots of people want it (just look at how many pages have both threads)

I don't want easy mode. What I *do* want is a fair chance. GROUPING is easy mode. Playing solo *and* finding your gear yourself is actually harder than playing in a group.

I also don't think that there needs to be a self found league. Things in the regular game need to be tweaked so that solo players have more of a chance to progress.

* Give a Granite as one of the rewards for Medicine Chest in Cruel. If you don't want to do that, tweak the drop rate on them so that they actually drop. I'm not saying they need to drop like health flasks because that would be stupid, but I should have gotten one in the time I ran from level 35-45.
* Tweak the quest reward gems before release so that every class has access to support gems they'd use. Reduced Mana is a really big one. I would even volunteer my time to help do this. If this isn't something that you're interested in doing, make a vendor recipe where if you trade in 5 of the same gem color, you get one random level 1 gem of that color back based, early on, on character level and depending on the level of the gems you traded. Tweak it so that the vendor in act 3 normal can give level 31 gems. Weight skill gems and support gems *the same*. RNG we all know and love, but at least a sink that people will use, and it's a slightly better option than relying on the game to drop it for you.
* For the love of all that is holy, fix the rarity on large chests. Make them rarer and then make them worth opening. I want to see rares and magic items come out of them, not a bunch of whites. It's not going to imbalance the game because, quite frankly, most of them are going to suck. But the *potential* of them not to suck is exciting.
* Tweaking drops for linked armor and weapon pieces would be a nice touch as well. White ones, anyway. I'm going to have to craft most of the weapons/armor I use due to how the game is. I'd at least like to have a chance at dropping something with the right colors and links.

That's...about all I can think of at the moment. I'll likely be back with more.

I have only read through the first 10 pages, and the last 5 pages, but the only reason I personally would like a self found league has not been addressed in all of that.

That reason is RMT/D2JSP. It's so easy to catch people doing it, and yet the dev's for the most part DO NOT do anything about it even when the information is presented to them.

Scenario: Guy with 3-5 year old D2JSP account, plays POE under same name, sells POE items for forum gold. Support/Dev response is "Well someone else could have made that account to get him in trouble."

Really? Someone decided 5 years ago to create a user name they knew someone else would use in 5 years to play a game that wasn't in existence, solely to fuck that person over? That'd be one amazing mastermind or one hell of a coincidence.

Scenario: New league starts. Guy takes his hundreds of exalts from standard, and trades them in a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio for currency in new league. Guy can now make a mad rush to higher levels by buying all the best gear that has currently spawned in the game. Guy can then get legitimately rich in new league by selling off the high level gear he founds as very few have access to it.

Do I think I could legitimately compete on a self found league ladder given my limited time to play? No, I'm not -quite- that arrogant. I simply want to be able to know where I "really" am in a league, once all the extraneous is taken out of the equation.

I took RMT and Cross-League concerns into the pros section, 2nd post.
However leveling services could still screw any ladder-related fairness over.

It would however feel the same as competing against dedicated players, I believe.

What's really amazing is how many of these self-found supporters actually would hate to be restricted to self-found. Trading is the kind of thing I can understand hating sometimes — sometimes things just don't go your way, it can get frustrating — but who here intends to self-find every non-quest gem they'll ever need for their build, or create a series of mules to ensure each and every one of those quest gems? Trading is actually awesome for that.

Uhhhm, me. o/

I've never even muled.
My first character, an ele wander (yes I went straight in and created the most gear dependant, 100%, well rolled rare in every slot dependant, get it right or fall apart, build that there ever has been) was into his high 70's before he found the last gems for his build.

I GCP'd every last one to 20, from 0 unless I happened across a Q one that was worth replacing an either no-Q one or a low-Q one. Then I GCP'd that one up to 20.

If what I want is out there, in the world to find or create, from a wisdom scroll to every gem that ever was at 20/20 to every unique item perfectly rolled with all sockets linked... I'll find them. You'd be surprised at how far I've actually gotten, too (yes, even the last thing I mentioned).

just a sniff
Casually casual.
