Curious?
Read all the twenty two pages, probably you'll find something ;)

Note =/= TL;DR

A guy above you just answered, and I quoted all the important and long ass messages, read them and answers them

Thanks so far for every participant in this discussion.
It seems that it got more interest than I assumed in the first place.

I had to take my sleep but will try to do my best to overhaul
my first posts according to the discussion done in here.

Good God, I'm so sick of responses like "you just want the game to be easier." There is nothing that makes this game easier than trading. A SFL with double or triple the droprate would still be harder than the existing leagues. Anyone that denies that is just arguing for the sake of arguing.
the thing about new leagues is you are splitting the already small population

it could be the death of POE if they implement a THIRD league permanently

just saying.
The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG
What doesn't make sense is why do you guys want that much better drop rates than there are now to play self found?

You can most definitely get a character into maps completely self-found right now, even in hardcore. You guys just want amazing items in no time, as if this somehow would make loot more rewarding, in a game about building your character over time.

You will find perfectly viable gear to use as you level and enter maps, especially considering that if you aren't trading, all of your currency is able to be used without hesitation. RNG aside, this almost assures that you can maintain a fairly solid set of gear throughout the game. Nothing amazing, but enough to play the game.

Over time, as your self-found character approached level 80 and beyond, you'd be playing so much to level further that you'll inevitably be able to craft or even find increasingly better rares and uniques.

That sounds like a much better time to me than* smashing loot pinatas, and I daresay that's exactly what you guys are wanting.

If splitting the community is a bad thing then they should get rid of HC or standard.... its already created a huge amount of divisiveness between the elitists and the casuals. HC exists as an alternative for those who want it but those who are looking for a different kind of alternative are given a big middle finger by way too many people in these forums.

you ignored my response to this very question you already asked didnt you?

Its about the crafting... it needs a boost. Can't do that in default though without destroying the economy. Hence SFL.
I've played 100% self-found so far, although that's account-wide rather than per-character. I like making alts with different builds, and it would seem a waste to vendor a good rare just because the character that found it has no use for it. As long as it was found by me the player, it's fine.

There's a couple reasons why I play self-found.

First, I believe that any game should allow isolated progression from the beginning to the endgame. That progression may involve multiplayer content if the game is designed that way, but at no point should it require help from a player that has already progressed further. If such a deus ex machina is required to beat the game, it's inherently broken and no better than a pay-to-win game.

Second, there's a greater sense of achievement from knowing that my characters are entirely a result of my own hard work. If I bought the gear I need, the character would no longer feel mine. Same goes for passive skill choices, but that's beside the point here.

Third, self-found is more interesting. When I find a new rare of the correct base type, I have to carefully weigh it against my existing equipment. Playing the trade game requires accumulating very few types of items, which is rather bland.

I also have some concerns regarding the endgame.

The orbs required for crafting rares seem exceedingly rare. So far I have 14 orbs of alchemy and 10 orbs of chaos. I've yet to use a single one as I'd rather save them for when I can get the base item types I want to use for endgame. I have no regal, exalted or eternal orbs. I hope these will become more common once I get to farm merciless act 3 or maps, otherwise my endgame crafting will be severely limited.

If rolling even a 4L is as hard as some here claim, then I shudder to think of trying to get it on my endgame items. So far I've made at least one 4S 3L item, and that required less than ten each of jeweler's and fusing orbs. I'm not going for anything as ambitious as a 6S 6L or even 6S 5L, but I was hoping to have several 4L items.

Maps are another thing I approach with anxiety. I'm not there yet myself, and opinions on the forums seem to be mixed. Some say it's easy to maintain a pool of 66-68 maps, other say they ran out and quit the game after farming docks and lunaris for a week and getting none. I don't expect to be able to farm them constantly, especially with my poor IIQ, but I hope I won't get locked out for weeks on end either.

I'm currently in the beginning of merciless act 2 on my highest level character, in case anyone was wondering. There hasn't been any major brickwalls yet. I can usually play around 2-3 hours per day, somewhat more on weekends.
