It would also make them more of a currency sink, which as it stands is the primary justification for what players dont like about maps.

Its more than a currency sink, its a playstyle.

If you can just buy them, then people will just do blue maps. Which is less risk of death.

Then increase bonuses for rare maps and decrease them for blue maps. There are so many ways to get around these issues. There's no reason that maps need to exist exactly as they do now. There is a 49 page thread mostly about people being dissatisfied with maps.

Been running maps dam well constantly with 2 friends.
As it stands, im afraid to do a map unless its at least a rare due to fear of running out.
I like maps, they're fun for me, but dam im afraid of not getting a map when i run em.

At first, it seemed like an interesting thing to have to get a map in a map (lol..)
but after a while its so irritating... im scared to run maps by myself because i have less
droprate as compared to running it with others. Im also scared to run it if it isnt at least
rare.

THIS IS FRUSTRATING! LET ME RUN MAPS JUST FOR FUN! Q_Q

*I support buying blue maps from vendors*

Once upon a time, I met a girl...

2 vehicle troubles, 14 amusement parks,621 dates, 7452 roses, 15525 kisses later...

The adventure continues...

Have you tried buying maps from players?

I agree that you could do that. What I don't want to see is that maps are so common they have no/little worth.

Right now players need to take care to use currency on maps else they will suffer from a lack of maps to do.

If you read back, I'm a huge fan of making maps harder, and dropping maps based on how hard they are. I think the range of how hard they are now, are from extremely easy (white map) to easy (almost all rare maps), you are hard pressed to find a map you won't do. Just maps you prefer not to do.
I think the map choices should be "Man guys this map looks hard but we going to get so much loot" vs what we have now "Hey, everyone cool with this map? It has Ele reflect on it" and not caring about the other 5 mods on it.
Or worse, just rerolling til you get +maze or +pack size
Keep in mind, now, with the removal of the alch recipe (new alch recipe? we don't know it yet) map availability has definitely gone down. As, the currency we need to roll desirable progression mods, and once had easy access to, is now scarcer.

Just how scarce, remains to be seen. It'll have a huge impact on the way maps play.

I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago.

I dont think it will change at all, only high level maps. Because I will still run blue maps for my level 60-63s. Which means I will now have more alts instead of alchs to roll them.

If you are in the Top20 in races its really hard to buy maps in the beginning (later you usually have enough and don't depend that much on luck anymore). Also some people like to play PoE as a Single player game.

Vendor selling maps shouldn't be hard to implement and would solve the above problems.

If you are too antisocial to type "WTB lvl 60 maps" into global chat that's your problem and the developers have got far more important things to do than to cater to that.

Besides, selling lower level maps helps people attempting higher level ones fund their map running. Why cut people off that income?

After last reset i was Top 5 and perhaps 5 people (i rushed merc vaal) were playing maps at that time - nobody sold any maps at that time. I bought some Maps later, but as i already wrote its really hard to get maps in the first 30-40 hours.
Last turbo race nobody sold maps (and i asked at least 10 times) the whole race.

Besides that, GGG said that you should be able to play PoE as a Single Player game - which in this case would be really annoying.

I think i didn't explain my point well enough. I won't whine about high lvl map drop rates or even map drop rates. I whine that there is the possibility to not be able to play some of the important part of the game because you are unlucky.

It's like not being able to farm Fellshrine because you are unlucky. I don't care if i can't farm Vaal Pyramid or Waterfall Cave because i'm unlucky. But i want at least to farm Fellshrine without any "fear".

After the alch recipe nerf an alch is worth way more and buying from vendor isn't cheap at all - you can still sell e.g. 3 maps for 2 alchs and make a lot of profit.
Map drop rate outside of maps seemed a bit buffed to me in the 1 week Turbo Race, I had 7 maps after mostly grinding western forest and killing vaal in merciless.

I'm not able to farm Fellshrine a lot because I'm unlucky. Not sure what you mean by this. Each time I get unlucky in a race and die, I and put back to the start of the game.

If you are unlucky in maps, its likely because you didnt roll the correct ones, and so what if you are unlucky and take an extra 30mins to get a map. Whats your point? I'm unlucky and not getting exalt drops also.

That point isnt valid and you know it.

Dont forget you were likley farming longer due to it being turbo. I know I was higher level killing vaal in the turbo race.
