Our view on map drop rates

I agree that people will still bitch, but the price just sounded right to me.

Would prevent the whole, "fear of having to farm to get one" that I oh so often hear.

Not getting maps? No. I have had 7+ maps stockpiled in my stash and I still didnt enjoy the end game. Having an unlimited supply would fix the problem, yes, because I wouldnt have to constantly be at the mercy of the RNG.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have 7+ maps which clearly you are not running out of maps.
So what would having unlimited maps make it more fun?

What it sounds like to me isnt the fact you dont have maps (which clearly you do) but you want higher level maps correct?

I was unclear. I dont have any maps at the moment. What I was trying to say is that even when I did have 7 maps stockpiled in my stash, I still didnt enjoy the end game. I suppose the difference though was having access to it, which is better than having nothing to do.

So even if you had unlimited access to maps, you still wouldnt be happy. So clearly that's not the issue here, you need to figure out what really is the issue with you and "end game" and then bring a solution to that.
So far you saying that access to unlimited end game would fix it, then you said it didnt.
Map droprate is ok at the moment, but IMO it's a good idea to make only lvl60 maps very common drop in maps allowing you to never run out and start upgrading. Killing vaal or act3 boss on last difficulty allows you to choose a map as a reward and there you go, you are set for the endgame.

But at this moment endgame is not that great. More different map types in different locations must be created. A lot more. I'm not a big fan of having a Mud Geyser + Bog + March maps that are completely identical just with different bosses. Even the smallest environment differences helps a lot. Like having 4 water pools in the middle instead of 1 and etc.

More map mods should be created. After a while maps do get boring, because everything starts to repeat over and over and over.

If i was a dev i'd make like 50+ different maps of all levels and 5 or more unique maps for each level.

Anyway, that's my view on maps and map drop rate. Thx for reading.
I expect more maps once A3 is released.

I think he meant that he wasn't happy in end-game because he always feared to not have maps anymore. I have the same problem - playing alone or with a friend isn't fun at all because you always know you can run out of maps. Last race i played in a group that supplied the Maps and it was a lot more fun to play and not worry about map drops.

Let the vendor sell lvl 60 Maps for an alch and everyone will be happy - i don't get why this is a problem.

Except for the first few days after ladder resets you can buy level 60 maps off players for an alch or less so having them available from vendors wouldn't really change anything

Yeah the sad thing is you still can buy them for less. So buying from a vendor for 1 alch wouldnt really change much other than people wouldnt have to ask in chat.
If you are in the Top20 in races its really hard to buy maps in the beginning (later you usually have enough and don't depend that much on luck anymore). Also some people like to play PoE as a Single player game.

Vendor selling maps shouldn't be hard to implement and would solve the above problems.
It would also make them more of a currency sink, which as it stands is the primary justification for what players dont like about maps.

Its more than a currency sink, its a playstyle.

If you can just buy them, then people will just do blue maps. Which is less risk of death.

Only reasons the Top20 in a race its hard to buy maps is because 1)you are low on funds, 2)few are at the map level to sell them.

If you in a race, its the top20 selling the most maps. It would be the same as trying to buy ilvl 71 gear in a race. The only people able to do that are the top20 for a while then others catch up.

Selling maps for 1alch will not solve this problem as people will just whine about it costing 1alch (which is more than they cost now), or whine about not able to get level 62+ maps or whatever. You are just raising the bar of which whine they are going to do. Next it will be asked for that ALL maps be sold and lower the prices.

I really just couldnt sell my level 60 maps 2 for 1 alch for weeks.

I just want to say, I'm not against selling maps on the vendor for 1 alch each. Just saying this whine is still going to be there.
