Why I'm quitting PoE and no longer recommending it to friends
"I think the bigger problem is with your crafting methodology, it is far easier to get good stats on an item rather than 6l, and even if the 6l has sub-par stats it is still better. If you found the 6l FIRST, and then tried to roll the stats you wouldnt be 'bashing your head against the wall' so much. Every player in this game will not get 6l item, therefore if you make people 'feel like' they are able to steadily progress to 6l you are just tricking most of them. Would you really prefer to be tricked into thinking you can get one with some highly confusing crafting mechanic? One of the beauties of RNG is that I dont really have to put any time into crafting if I dont want to, whereas if you implement a crafting system which gives lesser rewards through higher effort (like the only +1 link orbs that were suggested), you are basically forced to use the crafting system to make your 'normal' usable items. (e.g 5l) |

wow this is a hot topic....anyways...im kinda noob in PoE because I've started playing last week and Im a little cofunsed with some acronyms you guys are using...
what means RNG?? |

maybe a special map could have a "room of Alchemia" where some window will pop when you modify an item with :
"keep change : "yes/no""? (obviously the orb will be used in the process anyway... of course) it'll give a new interresting mod on map and fix the problem of possible high level item "regression" ? new goal and active way to didn't mess up your already high level stuff... ? ... nothing

" +1 to the idea. But i would think adding a Equipment Fusing Chance Crafting into the game. -add a new orb called "Transition orb" -xxxx amount of fusing orb = 1 Transition orb. -Transition orbs can only be vendor recipe. -1 Transition orb ==> give you xx% decrease chance for success fusing 1,2,3 links on the item. so basically, we are reversing the chance of fusing, by making fusing with 1-3 link less chance to appear instead. What will be the worth of fusing if everyone can get 6L easily? Crafting is gambling, and is a blackhole of resources
In economics, low inflation is the goal of most central banks. In the real world money gets created 24/7, but it stays circulating in the economy. So we get high inflaion, economy crisis because its harder to control money, hint quantitative easing 1 and 2. In POE money dissapears into this blackhole, thats how GGG keeps the economy stable and fair for everyone. Everyone gets fusing drop, but if the sink for fusing is not big enough, the it loses value and players who held on to fusings loses out. Same with other orbs, just different mechanics in play, eg notice how maps could be re rolled etc. its all a big sink for all the currencies. It is important for currencies to remain in value because it is the heart of bartering and it promotes trade, and trade keeps the economy going and currency liquid. = happy players. in D2 gold was worthless because the sink wasnt deep enough. |

" the game isn't perfect, but it's design philosophy of orbs and experience is. once you get the third act and a complete game, I recall Chris saying on somebody's stream it would take two years to get to level 100. would you complain about that as well? I read a post somewhere that the experience drop from dying made somebody quit... to the developers: I think this is designed fine the way it is, but the 1500 fusing orbs idea is great (not a single one less though, maybe even more) so people who don't like to gamble can see a steady progress. EDIT: a part of that design philosophy, as I see it at least, is no possibility of getting everything here and now. While it seems annoying to you, this is what actually makes you inexplicably feel that this game is awesome and that d3 is bad. while we're on the subject of d3, think also about bots. how many players would pay for a 6 linked sockets unique? probably some would and hundreds of dollars. how many would pay for a chance to get it? much less. if OP farmed 300 fusing orbs in a month, which would make 1500 about 5 months, would somebody run a bot 5 months just to sell to 1 player? the path that can be chosen is not the correct path to choose. such is the nature of the Dao. " I spent 140 hours in D3 but wouldn't recommend it to anyone in the state it was in when I left (even if it had been free to play). Having a game experience that ends up in a painfully slow treadmill consisting only of slot machine pulls that quickly starts to feel fruitless can really give a game a bitter aftertaste, IMHO. Just to clarify - I'm not saying everyone should be handed everything without making an effort, but putting luck-only barriers in the path of progress can ruin the game as a whole, regardless of how fun it was to get to that barrier. In games such as ARPGs or MMOs, the second that a player feels character progression has been halted, the game is basically dead (again, IMHO). Last edited by Estoroth#3617 on Sep 1, 2012, 8:41:01 AM

" If (a) getting to level 100 represented a significant, measurable power increase and (b) the only way to reach level 100 was to either stumble upon a ludicrously rare item or grind away every day throwing resources into the black hole of a crafting recipe, then yes, I'd complain about that as well. Sounds way too much like an entitlement whine.
