Forgive me if this question has been asked already, but I was wondering why so many of the elemental oriented builds don't take advantage of the crit chance/dmg nodes with bows? Why do so many people (Petrov incl) go for the Resolute technique? Is there some mechanic about how crit works that has to do with physical damage that I'm missing?
Thanks a lot
Its a simple matter of how much you have to invest passive skill point and dex/accuracy wise. I spend ONE point on RT and I dont need to spend any points on more dex, accuracy or crit for that matter. My dps will be 100% and it did not cost hardly anything to achieve. IF Diamond Flasks were in game it might be a different situation.
So if the diamond flasks came back would you re-roll a crit ranger or re-spec? I figure venturing this far out to the left kind of forces you to stick to RT
As for the build, between BM and Resolute, I took the detour to Iron Grip. Yes this is 5 extra points, but I also got direct access to 2 Savants (saving 3 wasted points), +30 str notable, huge HP cluster, and +30% elemental dmg nodes near it. This replaced the cluster of nodes near Shadow Start (which I think wasted too many points for small IAS and ele dmg).
What are your thoughts on this? Lately I've been reading through a lot of posts and I'm starting to regret getting Iron Grip because of low phys base. Will cost me about 15 respec points to fix... One extremely noob question for anyone to answer: LA converts 50% phys dmg to lightning, so why is it not important to have some phys dmg as well?
Thanks,
Why did you avoid the 3x10% wep elemental dmg nodes near the start of your build? They seem easier to get than the ones near iron grip.
And i guess the problem with physical dmg is that LA converts only 50% of your phys dmg to elemental, so only 50% of your dmg would be affected by your +% elemental dmg bonuses.

nothing wrong with 1 point, but that point limits flexibility. by going iron grip, it would benefit you more to get a high phys bow. With that bow, hatred will be beneficial as it runs off phys damage, which synergises with iron grip. phys bow + hatred + iron grip
by not running iron grip, you get added flexibility to get other elemental bows (depending on both availability and resources you have).on th These bows can scale as well as phys bow with the weapon elemental damage nodes that you take e passive tree as well. All 3 synergies flow together, Bow + aura + weapon elemental nodes.
not saying what you did was wrong or bad, just pointing out some thoughts. At the end of the day its your build and your character whichever way you want to play it. That's all the discussion in the forum is about.
I think it is the other way around.
By not running iron grip, you would be more limited in choices. It would benefit you more to get an ele bow.
By running iron grip, you get added flexibility since it makes up for some of the dmg you would lose when using a phys bow compared to an ele bow.
Now about running hatred, idk either since it would end up costing you a good amount of hp.

lol are you serious? i beg to disagree iron gives you added damage to make up for lack of choices in bow. Why? if you can afford a 150 dmg phys bow, you definitely could afford a dual ele dmg bow. If you could only afford a 100dmg phys bow, and you get iron grip to 'compensate' for damage, i think you are doing it wrong.
What i am trying to say is that iron grip doesnt prevent you from using ele bows. You can still use em without losing any dps. You make it sound like that if you pick iron grip then you cant use ele bows at all.
Spending like 6-7 points to just reach iron grip might not be worth it, but if it is only 1 point i don't see why not.
In contrary to nodes like blood magic, unwavering stance, CI or resolute smite, iron grip doesnt also come with a negative effect, so it doesnt limit your choices.

Hey all, so I'm fairly new to the game and decided to give the all out dps shock static build a go! I generally play with two melee characters so I figured having two meat shields infront of me would allow me to go a bit more dps oriented. I'm level 37 and got blood magic and a couple dps nodes. I'm curious as to when I should aim to get static blow? Should I make a b-line for it or would I be better off to get it near the end of the build? Thanks for the help in advance!

Oops, an oversight... I drew my tree on the fly to give you guys a general idea :)
And that is a good point regarding phys damage. So I understand this right, the ele damage shouldn't come from the LA... Just the flat ele dmg on the bow, buffed by +%ele dmg?

I just made a b-line for it after getting blood magic/reflexs/stance. If you got LA with LOH then the mobs shouldn't be a problem at all, assuming you're playing in softcore of course, I've only died on bosses when i'm not lagging horribly (and only once on vaal). Assuming you do have decent resistance of course, i'm wearing that I found so my res is all maxed (except chaos) in cruel.
