Petrov's Elemental Bow Ranger Build(s) (0.10)

Petrov, what stats on a weapon should I be aiming for? Highest physical damage? High elemental damage? Attack speed? Just wondering what base bow type would be best to upgrade.

It's hard to answer that in absolutes, but if you look at the build there are a lot of weapon elemental damage bonuses, and not many (any?) physical damage bonuses.

So I'd probably going for a high level , high speed bow (thicket bows are popular) with as much straight elemental damage as possible.

Check out my bow in the post as an example - albeit that much elemental damage is hard to get post patch.

But good old fashioned actual base elemental damage is king - on your bow, quiver, jewellery, however you can get it.

Because the added dps/life of 30 str is worse than any other marginal node I have gotten, imho.

Don't know about HC, never played it - I would get too frustrated and probably put a mouse through my laptop screen if I died at high level n HC.

I'm new to thr Ranger, (and to POE too TBH)...could you tell me why you've kept your lightning arrow skills gem at lvl 1? I assume you have to keep replaceing it when it levels up?

The reason is that lightning arrow (or LA for short) gets a lot more expensive to use in terms of mana as you level it, with the only benefit being shiock related and not pure DPS related. People usually level it to level 5, but not usually thereafter unless they have a lot of mana (or life if they use Blood Magic) to spare.

So would you say to book it for the Blood magic node ASAP or is there something you should wait to have item wise or stat wise before getting it?

i really like this build but im having a hard time keeping myself from losing HP like crazy w/ blood magic =(

ive tried with both life leech and life on hit and either way i can never keep myself topped off. each arrow is costing me more HP than what im getting back.
