Wise words buff -> balance <- nerf , need to happen , deal with it
So - as a new player, any suggestions as to where to go first with this build?

Do I go directly get Iron Reflexes or do Perfect Aim first?
After that rush to Unwavering Stance?
Don't you have ACC troubles?
Ty for the answer.
"The harder the game, the better."
To start, I'm a noob. I played PoE earlier this year in March and quite a bit has changed since then.

I'm getting to the point in this build where I'm ... not sure what I'm doing wrong. Here's where I'm at so far:

Bad? Good? I was hoping Iron Reflexes would help right away, so I went for it first. Now I don't have to worry about anything down on that side of the passive skill tree and continue up through the rest of the build.

Couple problems I'm having now are that I'm killing mobs slowly. Is my gear that bad? I only have Lightning Arrow and Phase run at the moment. How can I go about finding more of the skill gems the build supports? Do I have to trade for them? (Sorry, this is probably a terrible noob-like question, but I'm really lost).

Also, where should I put the skill gem Faster Projectiles? I have it in my bow at the moment as a support gem (I think). I honestly don't see a difference in my projectile speed with or without the gem equipped.

I'm also mana starved. Should I not be using Lightning Arrow all the time?

Yes, I have a lot of questions. I'm playing solo at this time because nobody I know is playing. They are either not interested (sad) or are waiting for open beta in January.

Any help is appreciated.
Firstly, at the beginning you should concentrate on health.
Secondly, power of elemental ranger is stored in equpis - you have to collect elemental damage equipment (flat bonuses) to increase ur damage
Third, lightning arrow is known mana waster. You need to either use blood magic or get mana nodes.
Fourth, how to get more gems? Quests. There is quest reward list hidden somewhere in the forum

Thanks for the info; I'll dig for the quest reward list.
Here's the Quest Rewards List. See what you can get easily as rewards and try to buy the rest. As an elemental ranger, I'd get Anger, Wrath, Grace, and Clarity (if not going for Blood Magic) as soon as possible.

Lightning Arrow is expensive. If you don't have enough mana/regen or want to link a lot of support gems with it, stop leveling it. Look at the costs here and figure out how much mana you can afford. It can still be effective at lower levels.

I never felt like I was lacking damage leveling up. I think it's a mistake to rush defenses. I'd rather rush damage early and build defense as needed. I didn't even get Iron Reflexes until I was over level 60.
A Clarity gem dropped for me last night and I'm using it. It's sort of helping, but I'll eventually be getting Blood Magic in this build. So I'll drop it later. I think I can get Wrath and Grace through quest rewards (in later difficulties) so I'll just wait on them. But I don't think Rangers ever get Anger as a quest reward, so I'll try to buy that soon.

I'm not sure how to go about obtaining better gear. At the moment I'm just picking up magic items and rare items as I see them drop, comparing them to what I've got, and, as long as it has the sockets I need, swapping them in if they appear to be better.

The one thing I'm noticing as I'm leveling is not feeling a power increase. I'd like to know a better method of obtaining improved gear. Is there anything specific I should be looking for in gear? Elemental bow? Increased Crit? Resistances?

Yeah, I'm a super big noob with this game yet. I'm enjoying it. Leveling is actually interesting in that I just like running around killing dudes to get that next passive skill point. I'm also skipping some of the defensive skill points in the build from this thread at this point to try to get a boost in killing efficiency (I'm killing stuff pretty slowly).

Thanks again guys.

At lower levels, I saw the best increase with +X-Y Cold/Fire/Lightning damage gear. When your base elemental damage gets higher, +% Weapon Elemental Damage gets better. You'll also want some attack speed.

For a bow, look for something with a decent attack speed (1.5+ APS) and at least 2 good +X-Y damage mods. If you're lucky, you'll find something, but it's also worth keeping a watch on general chat and checking the trade forums if you're desperate for an upgrade.
