I just got my 6L tri ele thicket bow recently. I have been thinking of slotting blood magic as the 6th gem and remove the blood magic key stone.

Considering also use my old 5L as the weapon swap for single target hit and utilize my chest 5L for more auras since i'm now with mana again.

anyone ever tried this combination whether its workable?

and seems like no one able to asnwer my earlier question as well =(

Quality Added Lightning Bonus

Does anyone actually do analysis on how good is quality added lightning over faster attack? I just realized that added lightning quality actually increase the shock chance by 10% when you hit. I have not found any thread discussing the benefit of quality added lightning on lightning arrow. (There is a discussion on added lightning supplementing freezing pulse).

Not experienced in this area, but theory wise, I favor (if compare apple to apple) Quality Faster Attack over Quality Added Lightning Damage. Reason:

Lv 20 Quality Faster Attack:
54% Faster Attacks (100% DPS becomes 154%)
100 Health gain becomes 154 Health gain
115% Mana Multiplier

Lv 20 Added Lightning Damage:
5-101 Lightning Damage (Scales with WED)
10% Chance to Shock

Personally I think 5-101 Lightning Damage is neglectable considering that you can get this from gears. As for 10% chance, you already get 20% Chance from current build (2 in 10 hits). Would you want to sacrifice all the benefits of Quality Faster Attack over achieving 30% Shock Chance (3 in 10 hits)?

As for your new bow question. You may have to do the math on how much mana you have and which aura you want to use on mana and which on health. I think it could be doable (there are other builds that make use of BM this way) but swapping weapon wise, I find that a hassle. You prob will be using only 3 auras (flat numbers cost) on hp and 2 auras (% cost) on mana.

Some auras choice I am think of for Mana are:
1) Determination 40% (More Armor)
2) Haste 40% (Faster Attacks)
3) Hatred 30% (More Elemental Damage)
4) Purity 40% (Elemental Resistance)
5) Clarity (Mana Regen. Flat number, maybe on HP if your HP pool is high)
6) Vitality 40% (HP Regen)

One other gem you can look at now is Reduced Mana Cost.

Food for thoughts =)

I am playin ranger for the first time but can't decide which build to follow between thse 2 builds:
1) The "all out DPS - shock stacking" build

OR

2) MOST POPULAR: The "tankier + shock stacking + inner force"

Both build looks so good to me. SO i need to kno the difference between these 2 builds like advs and disadvs. Which 1 is more gear dependent ? Also which 1 more better in end game ?

I do like the build no.2 i just want to kno whether it can dish out considerable dmg (maybe slightly less dmg from the 1st build).

Waiting for ur Replies from other players and especially Petrov! Please reply me ASAP cause i can't continue withut ur replies.
Hellmode thanks you for your time and your answers.

I'm probably not qualified to answer since I've never tried build 1. But I will just chip in theory wise

For me, as I wasn't currency rich and have no good gears stocked up, I decided to choose Tanky build (not sure if its the right choice). Anyway, from the patch notes for 0.10.2, seems like both skill trees are affected and a refund is likely.

Survival > Big Damage. In merciless, losing 20% is painful.

Build 1 probably requires a good gears to dish out big damage to kill fast to stay alive.

Build 2 can mix and match to even up the scores.

Is Ice Shot or similar a dps decrease? I really don't want to spend the points to go into the Templar tree for Static Blows.

This IS a LA build. NEver the less, I still prefer LA over Ice Shot because LA AoE those around your target where else Ice Shot only hits those behind your target.

Except in the first skill listed in the build he says
"
1. Lightning Arrow/Ice Shot + Weapon Elemental Damage + Faster Attacks + Lesser Multiple Projectiles + Life Leech/or Life on Hit (or Culling Strike if you have sufficient Life on hit/kill from your gear). I don't really think you *need* Chain with LA given it's LA's inherent AoE attributes, but give it a try as many people rave about it!

I like LA as well, just really dislike the point requirements for the shock passives.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE AN ANSWER FROM PETROV!!
Hey Mr Petrov. Loved the idea behind your 2nd version of the Ele Ranger, and I was going to reroll into that since I messed my own Ranger up pretty badly.

However, the new 0.10.2 patch changes look like it would affect your build, at least with Berserking being moved (can't tell if any other nodes would be affected). Would you happen to have any plans to update your build soon after the new patch hits?

Hi avenged

Yup, I'll update my build after the patch hits. I can't promise exactly how fast I can do it given work and family commitments, but I'll try to be prompt.

Shadman - life is a series of disappointments. But my humble suggestion would be, if you are relatively new to the game, you go for the second build as it's a better balance of attack and defence for newer players without good gear.

Petrov.
Howdy Petrov. I've been following your Iron Grip/Resolute Technique build for a few weeks after my first 51 Ranger fell flat on her face in Act 3 Cruel and I'm having a blast with LMP Ice Shot. However I'm currently level 52 and I had to completely skip Blood Magic because I am unable to leech back any decent amount of hp. My first problem would be the lack of good gear, I mostly use what I find and what my high level buddy hands down to me, but for now I can barely sustain enough mana to use any skills. I tossed a BM gem onto Grace since it took too much mana in conjunction with Anger, so hp/defense isn't an issue any more, but dishing out consistent damage without mashing my three mana pots is the issue.

I was wondering if you had any trouble like this when you made that build or if I just have to wait until I am a bit higher level to start dumping orbs into the gear I have waiting for me at 56.
