I don't fully understand it though. It says that it raises the resistance of the element you hit with by 25% while reducing others by 50%. Keep in mind this build attacks with all 3 elements. If my attacks did only fire and cold damage, the affixes on an enemy would say "Resists fire, Resists cold, Vulnerable to lightning". Yet I'm doing an EE map and I attack an enemy, his affix simply says "Resists elemental damage" which implies all 3 elements. This simply means that when attacking an enemy with EE with this build, you're giving that enemy +25% to all elements. I don't understand how, but that is certainly the case. They definitely don't get -50% to any element. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that all 3 elements are being used in every attack.

Yes, you have it right. I used to play an EE trapper, had to make sure I only had one element on my weapon (cold) to maximize fire/lightning trap damage. If a creature is hit with any elemental damage, it checks all three. If that element is present, it triggers a +25%, any elements missing get a -50%. If you hit with all three elements at the same time, they just get +25% to all. You can see how it works for yourself with the added cold, fire, lightning damage and a plain physical skill (0 element damage on your weapon of course).

The cool thing is that you can ignite a creature, then hit it with cold, and it gets a -50% to the damage it is taking while it burns.

plz made some changes on "Skill point progression"

alot of people started in new league and i very need this part

TY
I think the actual text is still a pretty good guide on that - spend nodes 1-30~ in like starting area dps/sentinel/finesse, iron reflexes, get resolute technique, get shock, get life/catalyse/discipline.

This might not be like the absolute best way, but it worked well for me.

Looks like my damage and health went up a bit from this:

Indeed my friend. You have a lot more dps passives! That is a good looking build as long as you don't plan to use it in Invasion. But you dropped a lot of survivability passives to get that extra dps. Looks like you dropped about 11 life nodes (I deducted the two you picked up in Shadow tree) as well as Elemental Adaptation. You're definitely going to feel the sting of not having EA when you do elemental reflect maps. All in all, this build has always been meant to be a bit on the tanky side. It's not one of those crazy dps builds. It's purpose is to provide a means to run maps safely yet effectively. I originally made this build with the intention of not dying in mind, and posted it here as a hardcore friendly build, which I think it is.

I still think it's worth getting Berserking instead of three 8% WED nodes. If someone would like to test the difference in dps, that would be a great help. Berserking provides 4.5% attack speed per point since the nerf (18% IAS / 4 points). So it'll probably be a close thing.

Yeah, I'm just playing Standard. I use a Voltaxic Rift right now so I don't feel elemental reflect. It might also be why I get more dps from the wed nodes than berserking. I had it originally but then tested to see which did more damage, I get quite a bit more from the wed nodes on the tooltip.

Sorry if this has been asked, but is this a build you would recommend using in invasion? Died recently and looking for something new and fun to try. Thanks!
Hi, just wondering when are you going to update the ranger version? Have been wanting to make one ranger version but not sure duelist/ranger would be better.
Thanks a lot :)
Hi, i first i want t say, i absolutely love your build. i used it as my first build to get to lategame with and tried to make it a iiq/iir culler. atm i have about 220 rarity and 110 quantity with divination distillate. because i wanted to keep my culling strike an a primary slot, without the need of changing weapons, i decided not to take cwdt. my survivability was ok with grace and about 7k armour, but i had issues with hard hitting physical bosses, that cannot be kited, like the hybrid widow in lvl 69 overgrwn shrine map.
then i crafted this one
, swapped grace for purity of lightning and dropped the iron reflexes keystone, what gave me 3 passive points do use for more life.
the best thing is, i now have 33% evasion and 2k armour and are far more tanky against physical dmg. with 83% lightning resist, i can handle reflect by far better, too.
because purity of lightning has only 40% mana reserved, i could drop the blood magic gem on elemental weakness, what gave me a slot for cwdt
.
Overall i got far mor survivability and versatility and i think lightning coil is very nice on this build. and i got about 200 dps lightning dmg more from it^^

With the new tree, has anyone considered just hitting all of the aura nodes and using Alpha's Howl? You get something like this:

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgAA8pc7KJtdA5aomm49WlJgQ0rIgwk_J0ZxKk20DOGIFSCTJ-q6Haos6YPbHNw8jt0N_Et_xlfJW6_8xc5xJ6kRlij6TipW-megbBZabXC76-4ppe4Oh3YkPNkTuJPveiP2Sn2nXC9vpwgMfdN-7_BJUY9GEH99dVpIHRTQ0Mae_rr60puhz2W742aeFy826We9VcbEosAaZOeG0SSq42rub5cGkFVZ81XWJLAZhS2Dp4SsqoCkGmwZiho4cqnz3fsJ7Dh82fbaV-Iaj3flMokEsxRN8B-iAA==

You lose some life, projectile damage, wed, and aspd, but gain +21% buff effectiveness, 34% aura effectiveness, and enough reduced mana to run two of the 40% auras (or you can drop a couple of nodes and take haste). Seems interesting. (Elemental-buzzsaw inspired).

If this isn't worth it, what about just picking up inner force?

been wanting to try a ranger, i'm a 53 dual sb templar right now (first char) and its fun for a bit then gets boring so I wanted another character to use to give me some diversity. All builds are either short, outdated, or require you to get uniques out the ass to make it work so this one fits the bill and excited to start using it. So many posts and not quite sure if its in here somewhere but is resolute technique worth the no crits? I'm guessing it evens out with the 'miss sometimes then have a high crit/never crit and always hitting for steady dps' and the fact you won't need to worry about accuracy on any gear?
