[1.1] Davos Seaworth's Elemental Split Arrow Build - Solo every map with ease!

Hi Davos,

Thanks for posting the build. I beat normal with a ranger in standard, then started ambush as a scion (my second char ever), and I'm playing a slightly adapted version that I think is quite reasonable and very much enjoying it. Here's what I'm looking at with 107 nodes used as a final build plan:

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgAA8pc7KJtdA5aomm49WlJgQ0rIgwluqj8ntfIqTTWSFSCI8Szpg9v-Ct0NytP8S7c-W6_8xRm0znFBh8auTip462eg-rFsFvnoPC0ppdyCh3bqYoLHxPbnCkp93sYo-ift73rNmJitrKrTfr6ncqlZ83110k182cAa_rrAD5BVZp6746eE-tLEoho4HRQXLzbplwbsOI9GhtEkquNqLYNX4tDQJLAZhRmKd-UyiZuhz2WApPsJBLNnvVXG9toUTe5vGo-iAP6PTeOmVzrh8kUWb_AfGmzz3Q==

I had a couple of queries -

What do you think of the Scion starting area?

Why do you take Elementalist? Do you need the +12 int? If not, would it not be better to take two 8% WED nodes? (in the bottom right of the tree).

Why do you not take Elemental Equilibrium? Would it not be really good with the tri-elemental damage?

Thanks.
I haven't used my free full respec yet, but I'm thinking of going like this with the shit-patch 1.1:

It's the ranger variation of the build. Currently I'm 86 so it's 103 points. I use an Alpha's Howl so I can get rid of the aura nodes above Ballistic Mastery and take Inner Force to boost my auras furthermore and compensate for the loss of Charisma keystone. Also, I think Inner Force is better then the less effective 8% projectile/elemental dmg nodes. All in all I will gain 6% increased maximum life, 12% increased armor and loose 3% attack speed with the nerf of berserking (that's probably negligible). Hopefully the dps will go up. Prior to the patch I had 5k Split and 16.7k Frenzy.
I don't take resolute tech because I'm using a Lioneyes.

I plan on continuing lvling this toon, so I'll probably take some more life nodes in the future, or go for the duelist attack speed nodes. Maybe elementalist...

What do you think Davos, could you give me some feedback?

How viable do you think it would be to forego the lifegain on hit gem, and instead rolling with vaal pact and a sizeable amount of lifeleech on gear? You would be gaining a lot of damage in the form of a freed up support gem on your damage skills.

It wouldn't be possible. Any life leech that you get from gear and passives applies only to physical damage. The only way to leech from elemental damage is from the life leech gem. And this build is 95% elemental and only 5% physical.

Hey, when are u going to update the guide for 1.1.0 ?
Anyone test using Barrage now that it's been buffed instead of frenzy?

1. It's fine. Scion is still the best choice for a lot of builds due to easy access to any part of the tree.

2. Well the build needs elemental adaptation first of all. For the two extra points instead of staying on the left, you get 32 int and 12% elemental damage. That is well worth it and will help you reach the 151 int requirement. If you don't need the int, then do it like this and put the 2 extra points wherever you want.

3. EE is a huge dps loss for this build.

Already did.

Thanks very much.

What makes EE a damage loss? That seems counterintuitive to me?

e: Nevermind - did some research and if you hit with two elements at the same time they BOTH give +25% res, and -50% to the third. So it's trash. Only respond if this is like the wrong reason. And thanks for your time. =)

The damage decrease I get from maps with the EE mod is on par with Enfeeble which reduces damage by around 30%.

I don't fully understand it though. It says that it raises the resistance of the element you hit with by 25% while reducing others by 50%. Keep in mind this build attacks with all 3 elements. If my attacks did only fire and cold damage, the affixes on an enemy would say "Resists fire, Resists cold, Vulnerable to lightning". Yet I'm doing an EE map and I attack an enemy, his affix simply says "Resists elemental damage" which implies all 3 elements. This simply means that when attacking an enemy with EE with this build, you're giving that enemy +25% to all elements. I don't understand how, but that is certainly the case. They definitely don't get -50% to any element. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that all 3 elements are being used in every attack.
