[1.1] Davos Seaworth's Elemental Split Arrow Build - Solo every map with ease!
" RoA is definitely viable, and quite popular. However I wouldn't call it an alternative since RoA and Split Arrow are two entirely different types of attacks. RoA targets an area of the ground, and it will only hit enemies within that area. Split Arrow on the other hand is a forward projectile. So as long as something is in front of you, something will get hit. You don't need to choose a small area of the ground to target. You'll shoot 6 projectiles and they will chain, effectively hitting most everything on your screen. And Split Arrow being a forward projectile has the ability to damage enemies who aren't even on your screen, as long as they're not too terribly far away. With RoA, you can only attack as far as the edge of your screen. It's a good attack, but I much prefer Split. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

I put my RoA gem on a ranged totem for now, with WED and added lightning, works quite nice. Maybe replace with a skeleton brotem or some other totem later, dunno.

I've got this build up to 71 on a ranger (The build I posted earlier) and my major thing now is trying to gear. I can go in and decimate a lot of maps, but my HP is very low and my resists suck. This isn't the fault of the build, it's that I have gear that isn't optimal, and I just went with the 5L evasion chest I had.
I will definitely see a difference once I get more appropriate gear, but I just rushed a guy into it. I do have a nice bow that I got lucky and got for a GCP. So now it's just getting appropriate armor that will work. I am able to take two leaps from the Hillock Map boss on 66 maps with my current life total though, so that's not too bad. |

" Nice, I have gotten my guy up to 61 and I am also fairly squishy. I am still progressing fine and I'm only running a 3L on Split Arrow (my only WED gem requires level 64 to use, so IO'm almost there. I'm also about to pick up Static Blows, so that should help clear faster too. I've been leveling with another guys when I can, and it helps a lot, since he and his zombies really attract a lot of attention and allow me to just dps stuff down. Davos, for your 2H build, have you tried out Vaal Pact? I saw your build goes right by it, and I know a lot of melee use it to solve the reflect issue. Edit: Also, for the split arrow build, have you tried speccing out of Blood Magic, and using a BM gem for SA and Frenzy? Then you could add a few % auras on the mana and get more use out of Inner Force. Maybe Haste, Purity and Determination? Last edited by andaval#2220 on Aug 12, 2013, 1:11:35 PM

Is inner force really worth it post nerf? I see most builds disregard it - especially since you are only running 3 auras here

" It's definitely worth it. Almost half of my flat elemental damage comes from Anger and Wrath. The boost that IF gives them provides a very large dps increase and only uses up 4 passive points. It's getting buffed in this week's patch also. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

" It wouldn't be worth it from a dps standpoint. I'd have to drop Faster Attacks for Haste, which would cause me to lose about 40% attack speed. Purity and Determination would be nice, but I don't particularly see the need for it. In my opinion, archers don't need defensive auras (besides Grace). However, the thought of playing melee without Determination and Purity is scary. Even so, the dps of my archer is so high, and I did recently make a 6L chest if I were to chromatic it to GGGRRR I could try that out. I'd be using Blood Magic in place of Added Lightning Damage (and I always wanted to see how faceroll my build would be once I had a 20% ALD gem linked) but at least I could keep Faster Attacks in there. I actually decided to scrap the Infernal Blow build. It was causing framerate issues when exploding 20+ mobs simultaneously. I found a Soul Taker while leveling that character and the following night I bought a really nice AR chest and 6-linked it on my 14th fusing, so I thought it was a sign I should make a physical cleave ranger :D So that's what I'm playing right now. Here's the chest I 6-linked! And the weapons I have for my cleave ranger! IGN: EmpathicAmoeba Last edited by DavosTheOnionKnight#4564 on Aug 13, 2013, 11:13:37 PM

" Man, that Soul Taker is worth 3X everything I've ever found put together. I'm jealous of your gear again. What are your plans for your mace/gems from your scrapped 2H build? My main could use some upgrades, if you want to trade any of it. I just got the Static Blows nodes on my SA duelist, they are pretty nice. I'm about to get IF, just in time for the buff! |

Most of the gear I had planned to use for my IB templar was stuff that I was already using on my bow duelist. Only differences were gloves, weapon and belt. I sold the mace a few days ago for 6 ex. I wonder if I sold it for too little, because the guy I sold it to was planning to 6-link it and it was already 5-link, so it was essentially as if he paid 6 ex for an unlinked mace. Anywho, the belt and gloves I am planning to use on my new physcleave ranger. Everything else is just stuff I used on my duelist.

So i'm doing a ranger version of this build - here is my current skill tree: 91 points.
Here's my current gear:
Spoiler
Links are : SA+LGoH+Faster Attacks+WED+Chain Frenzy+WED+Faster Attacks+LL Elemental Weakness is my curse. Tooltip SA is 1k and frenzy is 2k. I'm just not doing the damage I want, and really not enough to solo maps. I'm forced to do catacombs and docks - and even there it isn't going very fast. I know i'm missing 3 WED nodes, and my gear doesn't have any WED on it, but, kind if figured I could clear 66 maps and do docks/cata at a decent rate at level 73. Any suggestions? Edit: here's my plan to follow in my build, to level 90: 108 points Mess with the best, die like the rest. Last edited by Edzilla#0339 on Aug 16, 2013, 4:03:07 AM
