[1.1] Davos Seaworth's Elemental Split Arrow Build - Solo every map with ease!
" Well, I took a self-found/from scratch character to 78 before caving and trading to upgrade from my Kaom's Primacy. (I went about 20 levels without finding an upgrade for any equipment slot). The weapon I got is about 8% worse than yours not counting your +1 to gems (I'm pretty jealous). I've made it to 81 playing 100% solo with no quality gems and pretty crappy gear, so I'd imagine it is a pretty viable build given some help. Hopefully one day I'll find/chance a Marohi. My current gear is not capped for cold before End Charges and is missing chaos resist, so I mostly farm Lun3 or low level maps. I mitigate reflect by pretty much only focusing on phys damage so that I deal about 50% phys and 50% fire. This also allows me to use life leech on gear as I do a good amount of phys damage -- my 5L is IB--MeleeSplash--FasterAttacks--BloodMagic--MeleePhys (I just found a multistrike, so I may swap that in for Faster Attacks at some point). My tree: |

" Yeah mitigating reflect is doable, the only places where it is an issue is where you explode a giant group. If you get a large group of high HP badguys to go at once, it's hard to mitigate that, as it's pure fire and a massive number. If you've been able to get to 81 without dying and using IB on reflect maps (Multistrike may change the pattern of explosions, as will have quality gems, that's huge as it ups the radius of both your splash and the explosion) then I'm impressed. |

" Oh, I'm playing on Anarchy and I've died, but since I fixed some problems with my tree, I think I've only died to desync (the main issue with this build, IMO, since you want to be in the middle of a group to work) and that chaos stacking exile (-60% chaos resist sucks for that one). If I could fix my gear in the following ways: 6L to add life leech Move Hatred to Life and add Vitality to Mana (already running Purity, Grace, Determination) And just better resists/life in general Then I think I would be pretty tanky, especially with 6 end charges up. I think this kind of melee build is too gear dependent to play hard core self found, or at least I'm not masochistic enough to do it. It is a very fun build to play though, so it has that going for it. I'm slowly going away form self-found as it just takes too much time to find anything that's an upgrade at a certain point. I'm levelling a 16% IB gem I traded for and I'm about to dump a bunch of GCP into my 0% level 19 melee splash since I don't want to level that one again. At this point I'm not sure what to upgrade since my gear is all pretty bad, but at 81, lunaris 3 and low level maps aren't really cutting it any more. |

How do you get by without life leech gem Andaval? Are you using a high-roll Carnage Heart? I am using this necklace but it's still not nearly enough even with the 2% LL passive. The ever bigger problem is how slow the life leech rate is. I almost feel like a 20% LL gem is mandatory for tanking endgame. People have told me all you need is 6% physical life leech (my amulet + the passive) but I'm finding that it's nowhere near enough. My damage is probably only about 30% physical. I'm using the WED gem instead of Melee Physical because it gives me a lot more dps. Add Hatred, Wrath, Anger and the elemental damage from my rings and amulet.
I'm actually considering picking up Static Blows... It would only take 3 points for me to get it plus the other 10% shock chance node below it. I'll be using a lvl 20 Wrath + Inner Force, and I have about 90 lightning damage from my rings. I'm also looking into getting some gloves with lightning damage. So all in all I'll have maybe about 60% of the amount of lightning damage my split arrow duelist has. And he has no problem stacking the shocks. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

" No, no Carnage Hearts in Anarchy. Mostly by using Warlord's Mark (+7% phys leech). My build also has 5.4% of Life Regenerated per Second, 178% increased maximum Life, +72 to maximum Life and 2% of Physical Attack Damage Leeched back as Life. I haven't spent my latest passive point yet, it's either going to 6% more life or the 0.2% regen per End Charge (I have a 6 charge build). I'd rather have leech on gear/a 6L so that I can use a different curse, but this is working for now. One thing about stacking phys damage instead of elemental is that it gives you a lot of flexibility. Not only does it help with non-gem life-leech, I can swap IB out for GH, Dominating Blow, Heavy Strike to match enemy resists/reflects without it affecting my build that much. What tree are you going for? I'm curious as to what you're doing. |
|
" The best thing I can recommend to fix the LL issue is to get a quality LL. That will allow you leech over the % cap to an extent, it makes a huge difference. |
|
" That is the main reason I'm using the LL gem in the first place :) I want that quality bonus! IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

" I'm level 64 right now and this is my passive tree so far. And this is what I plan for my finished build to look like. I may make more tweaks along the way depending on how things pan out in maps. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

Trying out a bow char, from an old respec duelist, currently 59 or something.
Question: How about Rain of Arrows? Can that be an alternative to Split Arrow? |
