PoE Performance Issues still present. Need a word harsher than abysmal.

I have lost my fourth lvl 65+ HC character due to absolutely annoying performance spikes on Merciless Vaal.

Please take note, that I took him to 50% HP with no problems, then my friend ingame wrote me a few PMs and booom.... 1-2 seconds of repeating 0 FPS spikes => killed by falling ceiling with no chance to react.

GGG, you absolutely have to prioritize the optimizations over adding new graphics, at least give us a time frame you are going to look at it, or I am through with this otherwise great game.
Who else can confirm that text makes their game slower?
I have 16 gig of ram and crossfire 6990m cards in my M18x. I routinely play bf3, Shogun 2, and Crysis all on ultra settings with over 50 fps average.

When I play PoE, I RARELY get more than a few minutes of play time here or there without horrible sub5fps spikes and generally laggy gameplay throughout. I don't even bother trying to level because I know I will suffer lag-death no matter what. Often it is as soon as monsters are about to come into view.

I will be notified that I am approaching a pack of monsters by a 2-5 second screen freeze and then I am either dead or can play with 1-5fps afterwards. When I cast my totem, it lags for a half second or so before the totem comes up.

Occasionally I will get 60+ fps for a while and I used to get it all the time when I first started the game. There's to reason I should be having any performance issues with a game like this considering the other games my system can handle with no problem. Any ideas?
Here is a screen of the insane fps spikes. Interesting is that when they occured there was a ping spike too, wonder if this is somehow related ?! oO

btw: Notice how my fps spike down from 125 to zero

My FPS drops all seem to be skill effect related (haven't noticed much with the text problem, but I also wasn't looking). When a new person zones the first time they use their skill I spike all the way down to 0. When a boss uses a skill for the first time I spike all the way down to 0. In group play my FPS chart looks like a mountain range and the game is completely unplayable.

My PC specs:
Intel Core2Duo e6700
Radeon 4870 HD
6 GB Ram
Windows 8

Not the newest hardware, certainly, but I have never experienced anything like this before in any game. I just reformatted my computer and started fresh, has made absolutely no difference.

You have an AMD/ATI card. That's normal unfortunately. I'm not saying nvidia cards are free from issues, but they don't have nearly the same level of problems as the AMD/ATI cards do on the rendering of shaders and such for effects.
I have EXACLY the same issues (drops from 60fps to ZERO in cettain circumstances) on RADEON 4850HD (12.6 Legacy Drivers) since i play POE first time (early Closed Beta).

I really hope that this time we didnt get 'we are not aware about any problems' and this issue that last for so long will be at last fixed.

This annoying fps drops and freezes are occuring especially with firts time using skills (Ice SHot for example its 1 sec freeze.. same with discharge on act 3 mobs) and when pack with YELLOW monsters are approaching player (espacially fast ones, teleporting ones.. it can be VERY CHOPPY - just like on screens in this thread... +/- 60fps fluctuations).
The freezes and drops are worse if the YELLOW mobs using the skill thet freezes game.

Also on RADEON 4850HD the TEXT RENDERING FPS PROBLEM is exacly the same like described here... when i turn on global chat and when its filled with letters i get 20-30 fps less. FPS back INSTANTLY to for example 60 when i check 'turn off chat'.
Its clearly some text bug. And its clearly something very, very fucked up with POE -> HD4000 Series Radeons relationship.
It it has meaning here (text rendering via CPU?) i have AMDx2 2x2600Mhz CPU overclocked to 2x2990Mhz.

PS. I know that there are newer Legacy Drivers (13.1 i think...) - they dont fix anything and i have better performance overall on this older ones.

PS2. I have no issues like that with other games...

PS3. Card is not overheating - i have Arctic Cooling with big fan - card NEVER goes higher than 60C-65C in POE. CPU has good cooling too (not stock one - i think i have preety big Coolermaster if i remember well).

PLZ fix this.

It's possible the text bug is AMD CPU specific, as I also have a HD4850 but with an old Intel E8400 Core Duo and I don't really see any frame rate drops, with the global/trade chat window open and populated. I do, however, see significant spikes on skill first use.

I can see two things from that image.

One, a frametime of 8500, which is absolutely insane and pretty much means your game locked up for a good 5+ seconds, and that you somehow managed to get a better top framerate of 125 on a build that is several times inferior than mine, which can only churn out a weak 77. That is so incredibly inconsistent that it blows my mind.

Wow.

First, thx for the compliment regarding my systems topend fps - I got all details set to low and off course vsnc is off. Second, yes that insane spike happened when i started shooting a LMP+Chain Fireball at a Mobpack after porting to Fellshrine with my toon. As the screen shows, the spikes didn't go away after they died, but stayed, just not as badly as when it froze the whole game.
I could play better if the fps stayed consistently low like 30fps, but sudden spikes in a 125 range make everything unpredictable.
