PoE Performance Issues still present. Need a word harsher than abysmal.

The devs should check this thread out. Adding --nosound does help a bit, not too significantly, but you can definitely feel the difference. This might be one of the causes for the issues? |

I still think we are mixing up two different problems (OK three)
1. general resource preload and management. Resources are loaded and cached as late as when actually needed and not preemptively, this causes the Skeletons summoned for the first time to FPS lag a lot. Please note, that this logically affects sounds as well because it is in fact only a resource just as graphical models are. This is in my opinion why --nosound seem to help with FPS ingame 2. network problems (let alone desync as it is a different matter) - I have confirmed that in case I am having packet loss / jitter somewhere on the way to game server, it causes the game itself to "swing freeze" alot. The freezes experienced seem to be caused by a hardware / GPU / CPU, but in fact they are not (my own experience). Note, that you can have low displayed latency and still have a high packet loss along the way (AND the packets loss can be caused by a server far beyond the influence of your ISP, e.g the game server layer itself) In my own conspiracy theory, this is what causes the FPS spike lags I am experiencing or it is somehow related. Whenever there is a high traffic on some of the global channels, I have high ammount of stuttering and vice versa. Please note, that even if you hide the global channels, all its content is still received by you all the time! (Proof : try to hide the trade channel for half an hour and then look to the game log file and check the time stamps). I was successfully able to totally FPS spike my friends game by sending him many PMs in a row. 3. 2D resource rendering does seem to be glitched and is adding to the problem I have described above as every text or icon ingame is affected by this (and that is what I think the OP is referring to). My recent experience : I have always played exclusively one build (dual spark totem + minins) and FPS lagged a lot. Now I have tried a build with no totems and no minions, MUCH MUCH smoother gameplay. Just my thought on that matter. Developers, please make these two changes: 1. a possibility to TURN OFF global channels (not only hide them as that makes no difference in network regards) 2. An option to turn on FULL RESOURCE PRELOAD (loading times between screens would go ten times higher, but during the play itself, no loading-on-the-fly should happen. Should be easy and could help us a lot) |

Honestly, I think the whole thing comes down to a poor inhouse engine that isn't as universal as it should. Various hardware, network configurations are causing problems, and the whole thing ends up causing all manner of problems for everyone.
2D rendering dragging the game down to a crawl when there is plenty resources available, frametime spikes that may or may not be relevant to content being loaded, lag when receiving server data.. It's a mess. Very disappointing. And now it seems communication has halted. I've had no response regarding text rendering, if it's even being looked into, and the other issues are still not explained either. |

Any news?

Unfortunately, no official word on this matter for some time.

With the patch coming, we can assume they are busy.
But this is just all the more reason to work these issues out before the patch comes out because we want to play the game then. Right? edit: Here is what i stumbled upon and it has helped my game run a lot smoother! Instead of 60->0 fps drops, they now go from 45-60. Needless to say, the game is actually playable now. Here is the thread from reddit, i basically did what he wrote exactly, it seems to help: http://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1b1zt3/ati_card_issues_i_found_my_solution/ Hope it helps you guys out, report back with your experience. " I can't really see, how running a diagnostics utility, that doesn't actually make any changes, would have any impact, regardless if it's run in 34 bit or 64 bit mode... |

Do you think i did?
I was desperate so i tried anything. And it made an impact, quite a noticeable one. You might not believe me, or not try this out yourself, that's up to you. Otherwise, apart from "yeah, i know", your comment is kinda useless, no? |
