You know what happens when your Reflexes turn to Iron?
" My 9.10 Evasion Rating was sitting at 9k only, and while also being Lv 70 with MoC unlocked, Chance to Evade was much better (definitely 60% +) I could improve on a few pieces of armor sure, but I doubt another 1 or 2k would help much to get closer to the magic 95% chance. So how does it work then? If IR is truely doubling the rating number, and armor rating yields the same percentage in Absorb as Evasion does in chance to evade maybe I'll have to look into it. As it stands now, I can't justify all the passive nodes required, and still being such a glasscannon, since whatever ES one would have on top of Evasion gets eaten pretty quickly if Evasion doesn't kick in. Do you remember your Evasion Rating and Chance for your character as of pre-9.11? If you're leaving PoE, chances are I'll rezz you as my minion! " Iron Reflexes does not double the rating number. It simply converts all evasion into armour. And your Y% to evade for X evasion rating will not convert straight into Y% damage reduction for X evasion converted to armour. It's not that simple. Of course I remember, I've said it in this thread. I went from 70-72% chance to evade for roughly 11.8k evasion to 67%. It wasn't a huge drop but it was a drop and I was curious about it. I am not convinced it's possible to hit 90% chance to evade, let alone 95%. I've got the majority of the evasion nodes this time around, and pretty solid evasion gear for my level. Certainly if I were to get lucky and roll, say, +180-200 evasion rating/+100% evasion rating gloves, boots, shield, helm and armour, I MIGHT hit 80%. Maybe. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable. Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild. Thanks man!
That's the hands-on info I was looking for. Sorrys I've not read bac much in this thread, only just found your post on page 12. It's pretty much reflecting my own impression and a little puzzle I could not explain (now I wish I had made screenshots of my old Defense info on the character sheet) Going to try IR now :) If you're leaving PoE, chances are I'll rezz you as my minion! " ...so, from the looks of your screenshot (and a bit of number-juggling in the evasion/accuracy equation), level 70 enemies are now expected to have 700 accuracy; and from Charan's note on his evasion rating and chance, level 52 monsters are expected to have 278 accuracy. Monsters with less, of course, will hit less often, and monsters with more will hit more. Incidentally, to get to 95% evade chance versus 700 accuracy, you'd need ((700*19)^1.25)*4 = 571k evasion... unless it was an archer and you had Arrow Dodging, in which case you'd only need 13.5k evasion. I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out. Heard its twisted dreamed inanity In a whisper, in a shout. In the babbling cacophony The refrains are all the same: "[permutations of humanity] are unworthy of the name!" |

Nice more hands-on info :)
Thanks for doing the math. Assuming we'd rather fight Lv 60-64 monsters instead of 70 (or even higher while we level up towards 100 and the on-screen numbers always work with even-conning mobs), it's probably somewhere around 500-600 Accuracy on 60-64 level mobs? And thanks for pointing out Arrow Dodging. 13.5k is totally doable and archers are the majority of the head-ache lol If you're leaving PoE, chances are I'll rezz you as my minion! MWHAHAHAH

I just can't get my head around why evasion is being kicked when its on the ground already... Only reason for the monster accuracy change that comes to mind is that adding grace aura for anybody was providing a bit too much. Like a CI user getting probably 10-15% evasion for just an aura.
Am I the only one feeling this way? Granted I didn't play my ranger for like a week before the patch but even with acrobatics added seems like I really do get hit more. Bright side is hp nodes seem to have gotten a little easier to get. I did found a few mentions about that evasion has some kind of normalization in place but sadly no real source. Knowing how that works would be really helpfull - if anybody knows more please let me know. |

This thread covers it pretty much and is the most actual one I could find, plus has a dev post too :)

" I should probably use your math as a stepping stone to creating some sort of level-by-level chart for what evasion rating one would need to reach certain breakpoints. I'm totally not afraid to admit that in any other context, that's somewhat past the point where I'd rather just pay someone to do it for me. ^_^ https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

" But you obviously don't have 70% chance to evade, that's just an estimated chance to evade an average monster. Either way it lets you take a lot less hits from ranged attacks as you otherwise would, which is pretty darn good IMO if you're already in the area of that keystone. It is pretty hard to predict the benefit though - if you've only 10% chance to evade monster x, then it's not going to do much. But if you have 40% chance, then it's pretty awesome. I don't think I'd go too far out of my way for it though. But if you're already pure evasion, and you're in the area, why not pick it up? " True enough about the more than 1 point, but the same could be said for any passive. I've never really thought the acrobatics improvement nodes were worth it. 20% for 1 point seems a lot better than 24% for five points. And I don't find spells to be much of an issue for the most part, if you keep your resists up. Overall I'd rather have 5 more life nodes, or run speed or something than a lousy 4% dodge chance. Really.. you find concept of iron reflexes ludicrous in a game where people shoot fooreballs out of their fingers?
I met one guy that could shoot a firebal out of his ass, but i highly doubd he'd use it in a fight... On topic: Evesion could have aditional effect that if damage woudl do more then X % of your life Y percentage of it would be converted into damage over time effect. X and Y would scale with your evesion rating.Might be a keystone effect.I think it would work well with feel of evasion characters. I have runes, potions and total disregard of public safety.
