I've got an interesting character named Leslee.
He's a duelist that specializes in Attack Speed bonuses, and primarily wears Armor-type Armor and take HP nodes for survivability. With auras and frenzy charges he can deal over 4 hits per second with cleave and dual strike. If he uses double strike, it looks absolutely silly. He's awesome. he has Faster Attacks on Cleave and Dual strike, and he uses haste, frenzy, and blood rage. He's in ruthless ATM and does over 800 DPS. He uses whirling blades as a gap closer, which allows him to get to enemies before his ranged party members kill them. Some of his gear also has bonuses to attack speed. This is a build of synergies; This build demonstrates the importance of using every aspect of the game to customize and properly minmax your character. The passive skill tree is used to this end, while items, skills, support gems, etc. all can be found to provide attack speed bonuses. This is truly an awesome character and I'm quite proud of him! I hope you'll consider him for next week's build! Last edited by teacherpeter on Jun 30, 2012, 8:53:19 PM

My build probably isn't the most interesting, or complicated, but it is pretty under-rated.
I'm using a Shadow named OblivionLost, who makes use of Pain Attunement, two Redbeak, Rusted Swords, and a decent critical chance with lightning spells. My main attack is Spark, which I chose to make up for my inability to see much in indoor areas, since my light radius is claustrophobically small when on low life, and it's supported with Increased Duration, Pierce, and Added Chaos Damage. Increased Duration increases my chances of hitting enemies, since Spark is so chaotic; pierce let's me take on larger groups of enemies, and compliments I.D., and Chaos Damage helps me kill enemies which are resistant to Lightning. To support spark, I use the Projectile Weakness Curse, linked to a totem, so it'll automatically curse any enemies which get near. I'm also running two auras, Discipline and Clarity, which is set up with the Blood Magic support gem, to get me to Low Life. I chose Clarity over a percentage based aura, because not only was I unimpressed with the auras that I had at the time, but Clarity is pretty easy to manage; giving me 40-50 additional health cost per level. The four other skills I'm currently using are Molten Shell, Detonate Dead, Lightning Warp, and Portal. Molten shell is primarily used only against large groups of fast moving, easy to kill enemies, since it does enough damage to one-hit-kill just about every "white" enemy in Ruthless with Pain Attunement and my Redbeak swords. Detonate Dead is only used in areas like the Prison and Chamber of Sins, to prevent necromancers from resurrecting the undead. Lightning Warp is mostly just a movement skill to get me through areas like the Rocky Climb quicker, and occasionally used to get away from mobs, while damaging them pretty severely. As for Portal, I honestly expect to die more often than I do, so I like to open a portal every now and then, so I don't have to walk quite as much when I do die. The character is basically a Glass-Cannon spell caster which relies heavily on Energy Shield to keep it alive, what with being at <35% health all the time. As I mentioned earlier, I'm using Pain Attunement, two redbeak swords, and a decent amount of critical chance with +240% crit-damage on top of the extra damage I do with Shock and Projectile Weakness to obliterate anything that comes near me. I also make sure all of my flasks have either the Panicked, or Cautious mods on the, since they become much more powerful on Low Life. |

Hey zril I'm not blaming the game - I'm just saying why the character is as they are!

" That is very similar to my righteous fire build i mentioned earlier in this thread: Painting_Fire Since them, I've gotten to level 55. The only differences are: I don't use rejuvenation totem. I use enduring cry. I grabbed the life flask bonuses by the ranger. I'm using detonate dead with life leech & blood magic, tho Its not the most reliable. I'm leveling a spark as well. All my support skills use blood magic, leaving auras for mana, and allowing me to use seething flasks without worry. I want: Shaffels shield. Menigold (sp) belt better rings better sockets. Seething Hallowed flasks of adrenaline. Have you tried flicker strike with it by any chance? How did it work. The build is fun, tho requires full attention to not run out of life.
" That sounds almost exactly like my Shadow... and here I was thinking I was playing a unique build :/
Behold! The Skill Keeper!
This character fights using his minions and relies on having an INSANELY good sheild that his minions get bonuses from. Since this character is the keeper of skills, he has one point in many different skills allowing him to always have the right abilities for every situation. His main ability/spell is tempest sheild, but he has added fire damage and cold damage too. You know, just in case. Last edited by Metronomy on Jul 2, 2012, 6:42:36 AM

I'd like to submit Two Bears, the turncoat tank. He is an interesting character because he gives you the ability to talk about how play style for a build changes over time.
Two bears began his life as a hit and run high DPS tank. He spent his first 26 levels simply pathing his way from troll's blood to golem's blood and depending on killing the enemy fast, dodging away, and constantly regenerating life. It's a strategy that isn't going to work long term but it set this character up with massive strength, health, and life regeneration capacities. More recently, in cruel, he took the blood magic and iron grip keystones and transitioned to becoming a low DPS archer focused on high strength bows and has been moving across the tree again into the dex portion of the grid to grab heavy draw while keeping himself close to a lot more added life and added damage/speed for bow skills. At this point he's exploiting high AOE damage from poison arrow as his main skill. This is linked with support gems that give it multiple arrows, and peirce to fill the screen with high density toxic clouds that mow down weaker enemies quickly. His secondary damage ability is explosive arrow which he uses to take down bosses. This currently has a life steal gem socketed to it, but eventually as I aquire gear with the proper sockets it will get added damage and attack speed gems. Supporting these two skills I use rejuvination totem to boost my life regen to over 80 points per second and also as a decoy to distract heavy damage enemies from hitting me, they can't seem to resist taking the thing down as I dodge away or recast it and keep shooting them. I also use warlords mark to provide more life regeneration in sticky situations, though I am already leveling up temporal chains to replace it, especially if I can find or trade for a totem support gem this will become a great trade out in a few levels. Next I use fire trap to help protect my totem and/or add area damage on the ground at my feet if I'm in danger of being surrounded. AOE fire and poison will help thin the crowd so I can run as my totem distracts and I regen like crazy and fire explosive arrows to make a hole. The name of the game is crowd control and damage. Often I'll use shift fire to place poison clouds at the edge of the screen ahead of me in dangerous areas so enemies have to walk through it to get to me, or so I'm surrounded by the cloud as I sneak up on them. It's all about survival and damage. The survival part started because the game doesn't pause and I often have to find a safe spot, or simply portal to town so I can take care of my one year old son. Wandering enemies finding my "safe spot" has killed my character more than once in a real life emergency. This one though can handle taking a few hits from one or two enemies and laugh it off. Though he still dies in extreme parenting situations.
