Spoiler
Acknowledging this makes me feel a bit weird. Does that mean you guys can play...with 'me' anytime you want? Oh weird...and strangely cool. But mostly weird.

This is a GREAT idea. I can't wait to see what fun builds people have been cooking.

As for series name, I'm really partial to the idea of 'Path of Exile' also alluding to the many different paths we take on the Skilldrasil (skill passive 'tree') to build our characters. Maybe something along those lines. My ideas would be too clever and punny, though. Just throwing the idea out there.
https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Yeah, each day the backup is restored to one of our testing realms (we have several for different purposes). Because we don't know the passwords on players' accounts, they are overwritten on the internal realm with a default password so that we can access them.

All of our changes are tested with real player characters at the appropriate levels before they're deployed. We learnt the hard way to not bother fabricating our own characters to test with - we can never get the items quite right. Using a gauntlet of real characters really helps us make sure that it's roughly balanced correctly.

Occasionally we find out interesting things. For example, a long time ago (when the game was a lot easier), a player commented that the game was too hard with one of their characters. When I investigated by playing on a copy of that character, I found that he was using white gear and had a stash full of currency items that could easily have made his lethality and survivability twice as high with little economic cost. We were able to see that he valued hoarding his currency more than being able to progress through the game :)

I'll put it on the list - we need more suggestions from other people too :)

Umm, I have a level 55 (or 54) elemental strike marauder, I guess, with glacial hammer, infernal blow, and lightning strike as his main skills. He's fun to play but I don't think he's all that special... yet.
Shameless plug for my shadow :)

CI/ES for survivability (no use of evasion) Also, CI makes blood rage better :)

use of Arcing Blows and Lightning Spec (in items and skills) in order to maximize damage from lightning arrow, making it as powerful as burning arrow for DPS :)

Other skills typically used are Wrath (more + lightning), phase run + temp chains for kiting dangerous mobs, blood rage and frenzy. Blood rage is used when lightning arrow is used with split shot to maintain frenzy charges
Though its been awhile since I played.

Currently have my Lightning Strike Templar, which is heavily elemental based.

Running a Scepter + Shield + Full Chain Armour.

Running Wrath + Tempest Shield(Augmented + Iron Will), Using Elemental Weakness as a curse of choice,

and Spamming a Medium Augmented Lightning Strike

( Greater Multi Projectile (it appears that with greater you can tend to get more multi hits on single enemy with one strike)

(Weapon Elemental Damage increase)

(Add Lightning Damage)

_________

Although I find myself mildy disappointed with chain armor since it is very hard to use, being a hybrid between Life, ES, and Armour since passives rarely enhance those equally and need to spend far far far more points to get my defense up.

I just think the Hybrid armors aren't necessarily working as intended, and may benefit from a revamp, such as changing +armor + ES + Evasion nodes to some form of + Defense nodes that would equally increase your armors passive effects, though to a lower extend, say the node that increase your armor amount by 20%, reduce to to increase your defense by 15%.

Thats my only complaint about the build otherwise it works wonderfully and pwns everything, with my high mana leech I don't find trouble keeping up my mana even though I drain it in 2-3 shots.
Zandei, my main, is an interesting fella.

Key concepts:

-> Chaos Inoculation

-> Physical damage (daggers)

-> Damage over time

-> Frost wall

-> Mobility skills

How it works:

Zandei looks like your typical Flicker Strike Shadow, but he doesn't rely on elemental damage. Instead, Frost Wall creates labyrinths and passageways between enemies, so he can address them one by one.

Once enemies are neatly separated by walls, Zandei sneaks between the corridors, puncturing, poisoning (Thanks to Adder's touch) and burning enemies, then swiftly disappearing thanks to Whirling Blades and Flicker Strike.

You can then watch monsters slowly crawl around your dynamic labyrinth and bleed to death.

This build works because of the mechanics behind Energy Shield. It's optimized for a low recovery cooldown, so even though the ES buffer isn't high, it's easy to go back to full and perform hit and run attacks, recovering while your enemies are suffering from the dot.

Shavronne's Pace is his unique of choice, thanks to the great synergy with CI that makes him able to keep a constant sprint to outmaneuver monsters.

NOTE: The build would ideally have Increased Duration on frost wall, and also Chance to Flee on puncture, but I don't have the right links at the moment :(

NOTE 2: Many of the gems he has equipped are not to be used, they're just there for levelling purposes. The ones that he actually uses are:

Flicker (with ICS and ICD). Whirling Blades, Puncture, Fire Trap, Critical Weakness, Phase Run, Blood Rage and Frost Wall.

If you want you can look at my ES/Summoner build.

I abuse the two different level zombie skill gems. Makes HC a hell of a lot less stressful.

Zombies tank - additional life attached

Skeles do damage - added minion damage and chaos damage

With Discipline and Wrath auras to add more ES to myself and lightning damage to my minions.

I quite like Hillocksbane, the Ned Kelly-like armour wearing, flaming shotgun toting (split arrow with fire damage, and hopefully soon lesser/greater multiple projectiles, and point blank) marauder. Basically you just cast hatred, have some elemental damage increase (on my necklace) and spray fire over everything. Not THAT original, but the only character out of my 15 tries or so that has made it to cruel, because he's fuuuun.

I'm also always rebuilding purse, the rapier-lightning-soulsucking-rapier-crit-witch. Fun stuff.
