What happened to poe Reddit?

Anyone in favor of the poe sub reddit is either disingenuous or ignorant of the fact they where caught being part of the mirror mafia. Didn't apologize for it. Didn't kick the "only offending member". Nothing.

Honestly, not a single Path of Exile player should be there until they handover the subreddit to GGG... but that will never happen, because there is too much ego, malice, and greed involved.
^^^ Just...lol

Couldn't agree more.

Stay closed or handed it over to GGG.
The Protest is over the Reddit API that 3rd Party Moderation Tools that moderators on reddit rely on are essentially getting shut down due to costs and api restrictions. As of July 1 when the changes go into effect almost all apps people use for both moderation and for general browsing of reddit are going to close down since they cannot exist at the cost it would take to use the api (we are talking upwards of 1.8+ Million USD per month. Reddit moderators are Volunteers and do their work for free and these tools help to keep the quality of the posts up, prevent spam, prevents Porn and Malicious Content from being post and allow for posts to be accepted quicker.

For the general user if you are using a 3rd party app or an app that monitors multiple sub-reddits or make reddit more readable at the same time those will be gone as well since the costs will be too high to even consider keep running.

Another big issue as well was the Attempted Black Mail towards one of the App makers by the CEO/Upper management of Reddit.

Again do remember reddit moderators do not make money off the work they do

i tried apollo once there was an AD at the bottom of the screen that followed me as i browsed and even accidentally tapped it some times which made that app 100% worse than the official one and not worth using.

Thank god and thanks GGG for distancing themselves from them.

The best thing that could ever happen to this game is for the entire POE community to reside on the official forums.

I mostly agree, but I think if this were to happen ggg needs to work on this sites UX/UI a lot. To be frank, it's kind of shit.

To be Fair BBs and Forums need to make a comeback rather than be an after thought makes for better quality in general

So what's stopping someone to make another PoE subreddit (or others) if the admins decide to ignore the blackouts and the subreddit mods go permadark? It feels like there is no real pressure here.

Time proves the truth of the matter in all cases. The mods and app devs are saying that their moderation and apps are impossible to run with the proposed changes.

And to where your question is going - nothing is stopping anyone from making a new sub...unless the mods/devs are correct and the inability to have robot apps do the moderating for you results in such a deluge of off topic and/or illegal content that no one wants to or can spend time on your subreddit discussing anything.

Time will tell...

Huffman says the blackout hasn’t had “significant revenue impact” and that the company anticipates that many of the subreddits will come back online by Wednesday. “There’s a lot of noise with this one. Among the noisiest we’ve seen. Please know that our teams are on it, and like all blowups on Reddit, this one will pass as well,” the memo reads.

i mean the reddit ceo has an actual brain, he knows the protest is pointless.

the problem with this protest is that in order for this to have a chance of working, you need a super majority of subreddits go private indefinitely.

the way these people are protesting is a waste of time because only a few notable subs went private. for most readers, they look at whatever is on the front page, when only a few subs go dark like this, the only thing that happens is other random subs take its place. the front page looks hardly any different than before and the so called protesters are completely forgotten about even during the actual protest window
i dont even know what reddit is...

some sort of forum i guess, but why would people go to unofficial forum site is beyond me.
