[Camera] It's too close!

OP is right

Chimming in for this topic. GGG "only" need proper vision range, cast range and projectile traveling distance for us to have flexible zoom and eventually screen rotation. Forcing certain zoom to hide shoddy coding doesnt work and earns no respect. This isnt DOTA. Doing stupid tricks to get around the interface shouldnt be a feature.
Please pardon my bad english
I've gotten used to it but still would love to zoom out more. Too much might be game breaking but the current Max isn't close to crossing that line.
Far too close!

That's 16:9 and mine's 16:10, if that matters. A friend of mine says he likes 16:10 a lot more than 16:9 (unrelated to PoE), so I guess there's a significant difference. I should try running it at different resolutions, see how it is.

In PoE the distance is not resolution dependent and the aspect ratio has nothing to do with the zoom itself, but the ratio. Using any other other aspect ratio than your monitor is designed will just lead to uneven (stretched) image.

I personally use 1600x1200 yet it looks like 800x600.

I concur with this WHOLE statement. I feel as though i'm playing d2 with the same resolution and viewable area on the screen.

Whats with the freaking chat window taking up so much space too? Its WAY too bug and the font size is for blind people. Geeze!
While there are some technical reasons they haven't done this, as well as some ranged/melee balance reasons why they haven't done this, I'm all for about 20% more vertical and 20% more horizontal pixels in the view fulstrum.

Giving more vision = bigger Easymode for Easymode Ranged.

Are you serious @ TE ?
Why you should try Harcore http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/209310/page/1

I think the distance is fine. you get used to it and find a way to work with it. And limited visibility should really be a part of it, makes the game a bit more challanging
As a ranged character there are a few things that bug me to death and one of them is having a bow that is a sword because I can't see far enough away. Balance can be had from things like adding wind effects or higher miss probabilities and less damage at longer range (physical damage, monsters move and you miss and the like). The real advantage to zooming out more is as a player I don't feel like I'm in a prison. Fog of war could even get thicker and thicker as you are further away or have things blocking your view. In D2 I had the patch the double your viewing distance and it didn't change the balance that much but actually made it fun to play. I could drone on all day about the reasons, but it boils down to this. If this singular issue is not fixed I will move on.
