Poe Seems Poorly Optimized?

hey mr.Lmao, you obviously fail at reading comprehension,go back, give it another try. when a game uses 50% of your gpu and still makes your card temps go high like it would on 90% workload, then it means there is something wrong, with the game.

lmoa
learn how your hardware works rolf
if your gpu ever
EVER
goes above 80C
its a probelm with YOUR setup, not THEIR game
lmfao

Just ignore him he is clearly an idiot.

Game is poorly optimized hope some updates will help it soon.

Vsync is an option in the game and it limits the fps to 60. How can you have a high end video card and not know what vsync is?
vsync is a good way to boost that 80 to 100+ degrees, though.

Optimization is usually both a difficult and time-consuming process, but I really think GGG should make optimizing the game's particle/spell effects a high priority (or at least offering an option for lower quality spell effects).

Another patchwork solution would be adding a render quality slider that flatout reduces all graphical quality. Makes stuff look pretty ugly but it does wonders for performance. No idea how hard it'd be to add though.

What? Vsync would cap his framerate as his monitors refresh rate. Instead of it trying to churn out 300+ FPS when it doesn't even need that many, it would be pushing 60 to 120 depending on his monitor.

Therefore, there is no way that would increase his temps, unless something is seriously wrong on his end.

Truthfully, if the problem was with the game wouldn't everyone be having it? I run a few systems with graphics cards ranging from 650GTX to 690 and have no had any heat related issues. On top of that, I run the game with added effects (AO and MSAA).

I'm sure I'm not the only one who prefers to never use vsync on any game unless I HAVE to. Vsync naturally adds input delay which I find noticable and would rather be able toplay without it.

My GPU goes to 75% work load on BOTH cards playing other games, not just one like PoE is using and my temps are around 75 degrees so 60% workload on one core and skyrocketing to 85 degrees + is not something I think is an issue on my end.

Would love to see some GGG response on this issue!

It's not as simple as that.
Vsync caps the framerate at your refresh rate (Which can be all kinds of things. 60, 66, 75, 85, 90, 120, 144, etc) and will cut it by 33 or 50% depending, if it goes below it, unless using adaptive. Vsync also puts extra load on your gpu, surprisingly.
GGG said they will be optimizing the game at a future date, probably far away. They don't know how much content, what kind of skills, new areas, new effects etc they will be adding to the game prior to official launch. However this does not excuse them for making a really "unhealthy" game. It doesn't matter what your hardware is this game will drain it like a worm, my gfx card's fans burned out because of it now I'll be buying a gtx670 but I wont play this game till it is fixed and healthy to work on my pc.
Also with the constant addition of new skills and us not knowing what is to come over time I feel as though playing it now is just going to make me weaker, spending my wealth on things that may not be good in the future.

Vsync does a lot more than simply cap framerate. Doesn't always boost the gpu temperature but it happens.
Sometime i have FPS drops, but this happens only since 0.10.2.Before that patch, everything was fine :(
So i would not directly say the Game is poorly optimized. It have some..öhm patch Problems :\

Also when sitting in town afk my GPU gets up to extremely high temperatures even though I have an excellent case with multiple fans.

Turn on VSync! It'll cap your fps at 60. The reason your GPU it burning when your in town is because it's running at full whack 300FPS when it does not need to. That's what Vsync if for, also to stop screen tearing.
