Our feelings about Beta Invite complaints
why did you increase timer to 35 min 16 sec?
because of the twitter invites yesterday? Ron Paul 2012

" 100% agree, whats the point in giving keys to people that have probably long forgotten about this game? Its really a shame to see keys go to waste like this :( just let the timers ignore people that havent been logged in for a month and maybe a shorter amount of time for the random timer. I d just take u second to log in to get back on the timer... |

So bassicaly the reason you can't let everyone in is because of to many feedback and duplicate posts about bugs and stuff?
Somehow I don't believe you.You are generating hype that's all what this is about. If that was the issue you could just allow a selected few testers to post on the bug section of the forum. Problem solved everyone gets in end of story. But it's not about that it's about marketing strategies :) So please dude be honest don't turn out to be like all the other developers.(moneeeey MOOOONEEEEEY) I really was exited to see an indie team of gamers that are not like all the greedy dudes that plague the gaming industry , but now I'm starting to have doubts about your "ethical" views regarding the gaming industry. We did promise the people that signed up at the beginning that their signups were valid and would get them into the lottery.
I don't like going back on promises! Those guys need to stay eligible, but we've been biasing towards more active people in the random timer anyway, as discussed. | |
" Have you considered a compromise? If you see a beta key isn't being used (or a beta account becomes inactive) why not simply release more keys to compensate? That way you wouldn't be adding to the support nightmare as you're not getting feedback from those users - and chances are if they ignore their key for X amount of days/weeks they probably won't be using it any time soon. You also wouldn't be going back on your promises. Edit: Forgot to finish my post... Last edited by Boryoku#6497 on Aug 15, 2011, 5:20:42 AM

Chris writes,
" Dude your damned if ya do and damned if ya don't. You should stick to running a contest the way you state it. Who cares if people complain thats not the best one? Its your opinion and not theres. But to change the rules of the contest at the end of the contest is WRONG. So instead of picking the top 15 (in your opinion) you choose most of the replys and randomly select from those. If you at least stuck to what you stated, you would be a lot more believable, as I see it now, it really doesn't matter what contest you do, you may just change the rules at the end anyways. All a man has is his word, if ya lose that, you are nobody. Kyrow Last edited by kyrow#4207 on Aug 15, 2011, 5:24:42 AM

" I'm not suggesting that you go back on promises. Like I said before, just because they dont sign into the forums doesnt mean that they dont check their email. I was just suggesting the 3rd timer so that people could see that active members are being selected. I was unaware that the random counter was baised toward active users already. |

" Good to hear Chris, and yes it was known that there would be random selection for CB for a long while, I do agree that you have your ways to do it, and it is fair, the reasons you have are very genuine and i'm sure most of us understand. There will always be people that will complain about how things are done, because things are not happening the way they think they should. I wish you and all the devs the very best with the CB and if i do eventually get a key i would love to be included in helping make this game the great game that it IS. " As I explained in my post, generating hype is very important for the success of the project. However, that's not the reason we are restricting access to a small group of people. At the moment, the game is not finished. We seek feedback on certain areas of the game, so we entered Closed Beta in order to get this feedback from the community. Having a community of 1300 testers (and growing by more than 100 per day, of course) is plenty to get the feedback we require at the moment. It's quite likely that 10,000 people will have access within two months from now. Once the game is ready, we'll enter Open Beta and let everyone try it out. I really look forward to giving you guys access and seeing you in game. " Don't worry! We've turned down literally two hundred requests for paid beta keys so far this week. Someone offered to send 15 pizzas to our office today for a Beta key. We declined. We're not going to allow the thirst for money to stand in the way of us delivering you an awesome game at the end of the year. |
