Our feelings about Beta Invite complaints
It'd be fun if they reworked their timer to not give their keys to the bunch of whiners :D

Thx you for taking the time to make a post about the beta invite issue Chris.
i personally really apreciate it. Here what i think and btw my writing isnt perfect since english isnt my first language but anyway ... On my behalf i'am really not frustrated about not being into the beta, what frustrate me is when i click a *the random person * that got invited, click on his name to discover that he created an account , never logged back in , never posted and got his beta key. i totally understand the random part of the system but i really think that we have alot of diehard fans roaming these board that are dying to test the beta and give their feedback. Why not reward these person instead ? Have a nice evening sir and keep the good work! Last edited by Gorefeast#0644 on Aug 28, 2011, 9:42:15 PM

" Bet you wouldn't be saying that if you never got a key. Though I have to agree on some level. At first I was defending the timer but it's getting rather ridiculous now to the point multiple newly made accounts have been given access while the active people who are posting in forums and not just spamming like the person I'm quoting are missing out. I think the distribution could be handled better, perhaps given to a moderator who isn't biased against the people he/she liked and disliked. Someone who will give keys to people based on the quality of the users posts and not on quantity of posts they have. As you all know many people just spam the forum for +1 post count to increase their chances of obtaining a beta key. Having it based on number of posts just encourages these forums to be spammed with absurd things and occasionally posts that don't make sense. There aren't enough moderators to sort out the number of arising issues. If things like this get left unresolved this forum is going to turn bad because of all the spam you are attracting by saying "Post on forums get a Beta Key". There are very very few posts I would consider not spam. Perhaps make it so that the users post count appears under their username so moderators don't have to inspect the account unless they were looking to see whether their posts deserve a key or not. Whether I get a key or not the timer has to go. Last edited by italianmango1#5781 on Aug 28, 2011, 11:22:19 PM

I just joined today and I am really intrigued by the information presented.
Compliments go to GGG for a well done site. I posted in this thread because I wanted to encourage GGG to run their show the way they see fit. I witnessed this same type of beta frenzy before on other game's sites and peoples' (biased and usually wrong) opinions of the fairness in the beta process really is not worth your time or worry. When you release a finished well-polished game, people will play it because of that and the beta selection process will be a distant memory. Don't make it an unpleasant memory by trying to please too many people more quickly than you can handle. BTW I am a mature gamer who will probably not post again but choose to lurk the forums every day lol |

I'm in a mixed boat here.
I want to test in a state where I know close to nothing about the game, and experience what the learning curve is for a new player to the game, so that I can recommend it to my friends and explain the game to them without assuming too much knowledge. As a result, I can't really contribute into meaningful discussions about most of the content posted on the forums. |

Meh - i feel kinda bad for my thread I posted earlier in regards to accounts selected for beta that never logged in after they were created - that was more meant to be just a sorta tounge in cheek "fml for actively putting forth effort to be a part of the testing process" - I understand that the system is random, and even support the random timer. The number of keys for testing that you guys are even giving out is charitable - we should be happy that keys are even still being distributed.

i think GGG is doing good, and the beta timer was a great idea and their is no way to make everyone happy unless the game was made available to everyone which would be more a release then a open beta. aside from doing that no way of pleasing all, everyone feels like they have their own right for a key:
How long ago they made their account: How much they post Their name is havocefk doing good GGG :P looking forward to this real diablo 2 follow up 22/m/pa looking for friends haha
if beta wont come to me then i will come to it! |

Not going to lie, that was the best way to silence the nay-Sayers on these forums.
I would say take the time on Thursday and Friday to hand out keys manually to those who provide meaningful posts/threads. That way the chances of picking users who will provide great feedback will be a lot better. Not to mention the fact that there will be a better chance of those users to get on because they will be able to install the game before the weekend and spend a lot of time on it. That will result in the most meaningful feedback in my opinion. Either way there are a lot of intelligent people on here that can provide the feedback you all need, that are not a member of the Beta yet. I'm in no way blaming you or any of the GGG crew, I just want to provide my input (hopefully will be looked over) because that's why I am here. To make the game play experience for you (the game developers), forum users, and myself, better. This will in turn make the game better and to be played for a very long time. Now I know that I skewed off topic there at the end, I just don't want anyone to forget that the beta is not just for us (the forum users). It's to help GGG make the best game with our help. Which means it's our duty to provide every ounce of feedback we can. http://www.dslreports.com/im/98356271/7238.png
