Our feelings about Beta Invite complaints

Yes and no....but it is all random. They changed it because of whinners and they regret ever doing so because now some other branch that doesn't fall into the Veteran sections are whinning.

Easy fix. Make it so you cannot view their profile. Making it like CXXXX (for my name example) is pointless because the whole point of the timer showing peoples names is to know when you are about to get a beta key.

You could make the names unclickable and yes i know you could just search the user up but 50% of the people wont do that. Its just easy to click the name view the players join date and post count and then go *()&$#(A^#$A^*(@^#*(&^@#^%!^@&. If you cannot click there goes half the spam on the forums cause only half the people will take the time to do a search for every person on the timer.

Really, this seems like a good, simple solution. Maybe just make it temporary, during a key give away or the like. I don't think there is anything wrong with using the keys to get publicity - we all want the game to do well and for that, we need publicity. I think it just gets increasingly depressing for those that don't get in to see people that have registered once and never logged back in or that have recently registered and spent the whole time posting really negative stuff, or that seem to have a bunch of accounts get in.

I think all of us that are adults go into the beta process knowing we may not get picked, and that there are likely some people that spent less time following the game or less time on the forums or whatever (pick your metric), but it does sort of tweak whatever sense of justice or of a fair world or fair dealing you might have when you keep seeing people get in that seem to care little about the game or the like.

People are always unhappy during the Beta process. They are unhappy that they didn't get in, they are unhappy that the game doesn't patch easily. They are unhappy the game isn't the game they imagined. They find the game to be exactly as they imagined and then fixes turn the game into something that isn't what they want. I recall someone complaining about losing access to a CB key because they failed to use it within two months of being mailed it.
As long as the game is polished when you release it I could care less if I get a beta key. Geet er dun!
I kind of have been acting all entitled... Ive been like " Hey wheres my beta key? This is bull crap, I was a decorated tester!!" Lmao, I feel silly now realizing how many people have been invited, and how many will inevitably be left out.

Ill be happy to get in, but I cant wait and be patient as well. ;)
Dedicated CBT for PoE. (I genuinely care about the success of GGG and PoE.)

This.
It would be really nice to get to play Path of Exile early, but my world will not crumble if i'm not lucky enough to get into the closed beta.
sorry for complaining it's just easier that way! i don't know if you can imagine but when your fallowing a game progress for months appreciating every little piece of info. and now you know that you have some chance to be one of the first to be in... well you just freak out i gress.

my point is that i can't wait and i can't stand the pain for seeing this timer and all the freaky bastard who's playing now. but i can,t help my self but to to look at it!

U giving beta keys to inactive users.
Why u dont give keys to people who visit website constantly.
This type of honest address to user complaints (even addressing publicity, of which you are doing a good job on the site) is going to do nothing but keep people like me around who appreciate involved developers that are concerned about the community. I have more respect for Chris and for the team after this and subsequently, if randomly given beta access, I will be even more willing to be involved with the testing and development from a community perspective. I am impressed and have a feeling a lot of other community members who see this thread will be too.

Moderators coming soon. Genius publicity ideas have sucked me into this game.

Why do you think that ?
I can only imagine the daunting task it must be to produce this game. So far, everything I have seen about PoE has rivaled my interested in Diablo III and that is saying quite a lot.

Patience is always rewarded and I understand why having a longer production process can both test most gamers and developers patience.

But I think that it is due this game. I have seen a few very promising games come and go, Hellgate: London just to name one immense disappointment, that COULD have been an EPIC success but failed because of impatience on the part of the studio.

They allowed EA, a known bully of a company, to rush their product to market and thus...we were given a less than stellar game after being promised so much more. It's sad when one's creative vision can be clouded by dollar signs.

So...I can and will wait.
