Let's just get a bit serious for a moment,
Most companies in closed betas, they keep it secret. Most companies they lock threads down when they see a closed beta "cAN I haz Keyz Plox" thread. Most companies pick a handful of guys and that's it.You guys have been incredibly patience with us and even you take the time(Possibly on an already busy schedule)
to write down an explanation on the matter.

I sincerely hope Good luck to your beta,If I get the chance to get in,I will try my best to help..and Please Stay That Way Forever...

P.S. Although the Beta Timer Is still evil. . . :P

Hehe your playing the good guy and me the bad guy. I'm a disgruntled over qualified beta tester with no key.

I'm seeing it the way it is.It doesn't do any good to the game to storm out for a key (Close betas are for testing not for playing, thus you must care for the game). In fact this possibly keep them away from focusing in the beta and the "real" issues ;)

The solution is simple:

Get rid of the timer. Invite people under wraps from the public. All this rage is because of the timer in your front page. I am surprised a company such as GGG havent figured that out yet.

OR

Keep the timer but make the name is anonymous something like Upcoming Random = RXXX (name was Rich) then noone can check it and say hey this guy dont deserve in.

I definitely see what you mean, but we wanted to be up-front and transparent with how the process worked. We wanted to give more information to the community rather than upset them.

Those are great intentions to have, but the way it works now puts a target out there for complaints. Folks see who is picked, compare their accounts, and their frustration grows whether technically valid or not.

Also, the twitter/fb/4chan hype via keys effort is feeding the frenzy as well. If you want to hype the game via access to it as you certainly need to, perhaps that might be better done when you can actually handle the interest. Maybe it's too early for that, maybe it's not, who knows. One way or another, some folks will be upset. You put yourself out there like that, you're going to get negative feedback along with the positive.

You can't please everyone when you have 58,000 folks expressing interest and thousands of them on your lawn each day in a mob as you toss keys to a few of them publicly while the others watch. Consider the privacy of your players with regard to flashing their account names on your front page, the needs of your beta and business, and keep doing the best you can. We'll not all agree with what you decide to do, but it's your game and it's your choice to make.

The Main Idea of having a contest based on our knowledge of the game to earn a Beta key will certainly boost up my optimism because I've been reading up on much of the latest news! Best of luck to all others!
Give Chris and his team some slack, Chris took his time answering your tweets, emails, and messages.

Be thankful that u got the producer of this game personally answering back, so just pop a couple of chill pill, chillax and wait.

I was like "let me play, where my beta key" now i'm super chill cause knowing that being pateint (mispelled) has it's reward =D

Head on,Great post.
Ofcoruse there is complain, you have been confusing people, ever since i saw this site.

I was trying to get in alpha, just by waiting because there wasnt too many people in this forum back then, i trusted that i cud be selected just by being fan.

Now you announce that more posts help, and you actually choose them by posts. If that isnt enoug you will have ggg googling competition here any time soon.

Im starting to loose my faith on this game here, and i really dint think that i going to happen before i actually can start playing.

I know its difficult to keep every one happy, but dont forget longtime fans.

How we can trust you if you say something, and next time i see you it has become something totally different.

Jus keep your head together, and dont let them fans bounce you around.

People crying about not getting a key needs to spend 4-5 years developing a game. Your attitude towards the whole process would change. For a lead developer to even post on the forums for a game is rare. The lottery system may not be perfect but at least it gives people who just found the game a chance.
I do agree that this is closed beta and that not everyone is going to get in. The game isn't finished and the want of a lack of overflow is understandable. The methods of key distribution do seem somewhat counter productive. You didn't want a bunch of tiny little posts from people just trying to get into beta than why post a forum saying "Better odds if active in forums (basically w/ posts). Secondly how is people who check your FB and twitter constantly receiving fair treatment when you post in the forums before hand and the whole community jumps over to the other pages. I never heard anything about IRC etc.... Offering a giveaway based on say "why do you want to get in" and giving keys to jokes (or what seems like a random selection overall). I think a lot of animosity could have been avoided by listing all of the winners of the contest and their posts. Not doing so makes a lot of us wonder if posts even got read at all (at least 1 was completely undeserved comparatively speaking). Some people (like me) followed this game for a while and didn;t uselessly spam your forums for the past 3 months only to bitch and moan about other people trying to get into the beta. Now you have a countdown timer that only gives beta to veteran (Extremely understandable) and a timer that gives to veterans 75% of the time (Not understandable). I originally read that the timer system worked to give everyone a fair chance. Instead you have gone in the complete opposite direction. Where i originally felt i had a chance at a beta invite I now feel like it is a lost thought. This is not a venting post, just the honest to gods truth.

Thank you for the continued involvement in the community Chris and the rest of the team.

PoE has a huge potential to be a hit game but i couldn't agree more that the publicity is critical. It needs all the advertising it can get, at least in the begining.

I've talked recently to a few gamers that might be interested in it and they've never heard of it before. Still, given the stage of the game there is enough time to get the word of mouth going, but i believe the game itself and the scores it will get will be a reason enough for success.

Most of the people that complain seem quite immature and are a vast minority and more importantly they want to play the game rather then test it.

If you like this FREE TO PLAY game support the devs and dont make their job more difficult in these final stages.
