I imagine the original intention was simply thematic and utilitarian. Mines and traps traps are fundamentally similar (given that a mine literally a kind of trap) and there's not that much space they can put new stuff on the skill tree without really remapping an area. Remember, the skill tree still needs to be legible, even though it's complex.

That might be OK for most people, I could get 8k life with a carcass jack, but I would want to be wearing kaoms, or a much better rare chest at the very least. They wanted to fix snapshotting so people didn't have to mess about with unique's to make things work, and RF barely works without carcass jack, you was pretty much forced to use it, so after fixing it you shouldn't have to use it anymore.

as I see it, its simple, you want your RF with more AoE? Choices are Carcass jack, divinarius, AoE passives, increased AoE gem. More HP? Kaoms. More resist? Rare chest. You are not forced to mess with uniques, you just need to make choice and stick to it for as long as you feel it ok.

thats completly wrong! EVERY class EVERY character can snapshot something! - and thats a fact! everyone and everything! so summoners will get nerfed like every other class! - so at the current point summoners dont have the advantage of other characters! everyone has those advantages!

i hope everyone will read this! because everyone can snapshot or "ABUSE" something at the current point of the game!

I think snapshotting will hurt pure summoners the most.(as summoners that utilize all the minions).
Hybrid summoners look like they might become more viable. There simply won't be enough room for full summoners.


I love the summoner archetype since way back in d2, and still enjoy it a lot in poe. I spent maybe a thousand hours of game play with the class and roughly 300 ex worth of equips to gear her up. I don't like the idea of snapshot, and know it will be fix one day. However, after the snapshot fix post, I really hope I can still go for 74+ maps or endgame atziri run after the fix.

I personally not looking for some crazy, immortal zombies with high attack and defense, but some that can survive in high level maps without constantly dying.

After all, not so positive about the changes; maybe it's time to take a break from my summoner.

RF already gets templar AoE nodes, and getting a 20 quality inc aoe isn't a priority in the first couple of weeks of a new league, and even with those the carcass jack is still needed for the AoE radius to be big enough for anything more than single target, so no I shouldn't have to sacrifice my Kaoms just to make the build even be viable. And divinarius? So i would have to sacrifice the 100% damage from the Atziri scepter which would be needed if they don't buff damage? Again, not gonna happen. Like I said, RF is viable because of a bug, a bug that they balanced around, so after fixing such a bug things should be rebalanced to be similar to what they were like with it, a BUG SHOULDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH BALANCE.
theres alot of preaching in here and no solutions. i just want to know if ggg is gonna balance the game around 0 snapshotting? u stated clearly that u have balanced the game around the fact that snapshotting IS available...so does this mean players will have less of an advantage or more?

im assuming the full scope of balancing the game around snapshotting will never be recoverable...

Doesn't strike me that way. While unintentional, it's a long known aspect of the game, and the leagues started with a bit of a question mark as to whether snapshotting even could be fixed. To change the rules mid-league would be bullshit. I think it's pretty responsible of them to wait.

I dont think RF was ever designed as a main damage source.

You want to use a Kaom and still do the damage a 6link would provide? Use a 2 hander. As simple as that. You don't want to use a 2 hander? Great then you're in the same boat as any other build using a kaom and not willing to use a 2 hander. Why do you assume you could get away with the equivalent of a 6linked main damage source, Kaoms AND 1h/shield setup? That's like completely negating the major drawback of a kaom.
