About shrines and altars

D1 has some shrine with random effects (dont't remember what it could grant to the player), sometimes good ones sometimes bad.
I would like to see something like this, some gamechanging, random and non-permanent (few minutes) effect. But without some overpowered stuff (godmode or get deadly thunderstruck :F) Shrines being only some another buff (exp/mana/dmg and so on) or some useless things (tp/some pots) like in d2 add nothing to the gameplay. Only boss shrine was decent tbh. I would like to see something to spice things up. Switch your atribs or increase your run speed but decrease attack/cast speed and so on. No item drops from shrines and no permanent effects. | |
" I offered twist on temporary buff idea here: http://pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/260 but as you can see, it's sort of killed by D2-conditioned / shrines people. I still think it's far better than overused shrines, especially for a game that already copied too much of D2 / Titan Quest and similar games, as PoE did. " Already copied too much of D2/TQ? Are you serious or just stupid? This game has one of the most innovative twists on an old genre that I have ever seen. Whole "No Player based Skills that you learn from a trainer" but instead a very very unique Gem system with support gems that modify the effects and level up with your xp. They have unique class sytems with hybrid classes which in turn affect the gems power and useage.... Yes its a hack n slash but your statement is grossly misconstruded. That is the only thing that is similar! Also your one time item with skill that dissapears on use would create alot of extra work for the developers creating alot of unique models,designs, mechanics, and effects only to be used once be players and then have it dissappear. Your suggestion is a little ignorant and shortsighted and you should really look at the viability of the idea as a whole - from development, gameplay and Return on Investment (developer time and effort). I really have to question your intentions in this forum and game given your statements such as the one quoted above. Alot of people have said troll.... You may want to think alittle more about posting your personal thoughts especially when alot of forum pep's would take your statements as an attack on them, the game and the efforts of the developers.... You asume way too much, and know way too little. Somehow, you think licking GGG's ass is the only valid approach, and at the same time you cheer their innovative twists. It never came to you those innovative twists are result of not licking others' asses, but being very critical on the subject? Funny, really.
You should understand that I've been sort of lured here with various GGG claims, some of which they are not fulfilling, or even work against. I had enough of being tricked, wasting a lot of my time just to realise that, for example, game that had "Horror" salepitch is not horror at all. You might be thinking that if I attack GGG for not delivering promised, or going off-course, they would ban me from this forum and Alpha, but that won't happen. Contrary to most people, GGG understand that one must know both sides of a coin to properly judge it. If they are to listen only you ass-lickers, polite speech, artificial humans, PoE would be just another boring mixture of this and that, claiming "corrupted and deeply hostile continent" but actualy being "Farmville meats (some H'n'S game)". Sorry then. Anyway every dev are luring ppl to their game by some phony slogans. There's no way isometric view h&s could scare the shit out of you :> You have to filter it out. Someone can do it, most ppl not, that's how this business works. About PoE I never view it as something "innovative" Some Diabloclone with skill system from Final Fantasy 7, so I have no problem when some features turns out to be kinda generic like in most of the genre.
