You guys do realize its GGG we're dealing with here .. right?

We all know there is a reason behind it even if we will not find out quite yet

Finally a recipe for Chisels, and then such a Bullshit...

Edit : Collecting Hammer's will be a pain in the Ass while mapping, take Belts/Gloves woud be alot easier. Woud like to know what GGG thinks behind this decision!

No, you use a hammer and a chisel to carve the stone on a map. It's supposed to be symbolic, not just a random item..

One of the best things about D2 was imo that chipped gems had some actual value for high level players but only low level players could easily farm them. It's a good thing when low level players can get some currency and they don't depend on getting a lucky high level orb.

Oh come on! Do you even know how the game works?

On the demand side no one is going to bother since the time spent looking for low-level players with excess stone hammers could be spent farming chisels. The latter is both more effective AND more efficient (factoring in time and stash space concerns).

On the supply side it's not economically sounds either. Farming a low-level zone in lieu of continuing with your 'normal' zone progression will be detrimental for you character progression both in terms of gathered xp and wealth. Storing and trying to trade stone hammers is not an economically sound activity and neither is it fun.

If something is unappealing on the demand side and unappealing on the supply side, then you know the recipe in question is flawed.

The comparison with D2's chipped gems does not hold up on a fundamental level. A chipped gem is clearly recognizable as a currency item and it has explicit value for the low-level player who is farming. One can also farm them while following regular progression and on top of that chipped gems take up almost no inventory space. A stone hammer is not clearly recognizable, has no apparent value to the low-level player and takes up 6 slots.

Chipped gems are of course far better than this recipe. They take less space and they are probably worth much than the hammers in comparison. That's all true. It's still a step in a direction that needs attention and I am happy that a first step has been done.

I saw so many people complaining here that high level characters cannot farm the hammers easily. It's okay though if there are items that are more easily obtained by low level characters imo. That's why I brought up the chipped gems example.

Let's stop the "Vendors sell hammers" thing right here. The people who will be using this recipe are going to be high levels. Vendors only reset at level ups.

if anything , this will probably be a case ,where you find a hand full leveling up a char or doing boss runs between map sessions rather than something you would blatantly farm.
that is my view on it anyway

I just ran my 5 high lvl chars through the vendors.

Quite strange, Act 1 Tarkleigh had 2 stone hammers on the first 4 out of the 5.
While lvl ups are few and far between for these, I wonder about taking a character to the lvl/stage that Tarkleigh stocks these and grabbing possibly 2 every few mins ding for a while then repeat.

Spoiler

I'm still pissed, that for me, more chisels ultimately means less alchs. :( And again, more repetitive faceroll for challenge/progression access.
Casually casual.

damn thats nice, new way for people to farm currency. for those that dont notice, its also a way for NEW players to make currency. any new player that starts stocking up on stone hammers can then sell them for a few orbs (obviously not fusing and chaos but maybe a few alts, augs, etc), or save them for themselves. also nice for those that like to reroll alot, like me.

Sorry but the time spent farming hammers would be better spent running the low level map for currency to trade for chisels. Only idiots will farm for hammers. Seriously who do you have thinking up this garbage?
