Nemesis One Week Race

In my experience with MMOs over the last 10 years it's been made plain that when a good MMO starts to dismantle the things that make the hardcore players happy in order to make the useless casual players happy- this is the silent death knell of the game. If GGG nerfs the race system for these scrubs begging for handouts for showing up: I'll bounce outta this game.
If you like to do nothing and never get better at a video game but have the devs reward you for logging on everytime- go back to wow.

In agreement.

Can anyone come forward who didn't win a prize in the races league just been (and participated in a meaningful way)?

Umm how about only 1 prize?
Perhaps only 2?!

My guess is that most hit 3 to 4 and upwards.

Sure GGG could jam leveled prizes into this week long race - but then we'd feel compelled to play a lot during a time of holiday to make the different levels in this week long race - some people won't have that kind of time right now - how is that fair on them exactly?

P.S. Can someone who has a Demigod's Touch link it so that people complaining about missing out can actually see the item they're missing out on!

P.P.S I played the dailies in WoW - I'd hate to see that happen to PoE. I also miss the days in that game where an epic item was just that, Epic - and not simply an expectation and even requirement!

The thing about Demis is that they are just trophies, the people who complain about not being able to win Demis seem to be under the misconception that they are game-breaking uber uniques that are absolute must-haves. But their value is purely in how rare they are (much like an olympic gold medal in real life), if GGG made them significantly more common they would just lose all value.

They are really trash uniques stats-wise.

While I enjoy races... there is no point for someone like me to even bother competing in this event as I know I have no chance of being in the top 40..... there's no point.

All you get for being top 40 is a shitty unique. I dont understand how people are only motivated to play a game based purely on the prizes they recieve at the end. For myself I love the competition and challenge of these events couldnt care less about the prizes.

I would be willing to bet that there will be nobody in the top 40 who plays less than 8 hours a day. Mind you I don't have a problem with rewarding them for not having a life outside of gaming, but at least throw the rest of us a bone. Leave the unique "trophy" rewards for the "l33t" gamers, but at least give some kind of a consolation prize to people who are in the top 10, 20, 30 or 40%. Even if it's just something like a random un-identified rare, or maybe an orb or two; I think it would encourage more people to participate. If one of the earlier posts was accurate that there will be 10,000 people participating, then rewarding the top 40 is less than half a percent of the participants getting a reward.
